Not everyone is using Ableton just as a daw or a jukebox. The bands I work with are wanting to use it in live performance with multiple analog instruments and midi instruments playing through it in real time. For this we need lowest possible latencies, lots of plugins, lots of FX, lots of of ...

My Vista/RME/Ableton live performance is as follows using the test tone at 80% cpu:
MMCSS on, mulit-processor support on:1024 samples
MMCSS on, multi-processor support off:512 samples
MMCSS off, multi-processor support off:512 samples
MMCSS off, multi-processor support on:256 samples

Parametex, Try turning multiprocessor support off under the CPU tab in Preferences. It's a shame to have to do this on a quad machine, but it might get you down to a usable latency setting. Mine went from 1024 to 512 with that switch.

A good first step would be to get 32 bit Ableton Live running smoothly on Vista 64. At present, I can't turn on multiprocessor support under Vista 64 without degrading performance of Live by half -- double the CPU's, halve the performance. I have no desire to go back to XP because my 64 bit Sonar ...

I have tried Live on 2 different computers running Vista 64. On both computers, I can run at a lower sample rate if I turn multiprocessor support off . I'm wondering if this is a Vista 64 problem only or does it occur with other OS versions?
