Re: Monitors

If you can stretch your budget just a little bit you could get a pair of these:

For 500 euro you could probably get a pair of used Adam A7 or Genelec 8020 though. Most value for your money in my opinion.

My pleasure. I forgot to mention K+H O300, they are just simply superb. If you haven't already heard them you owe it to yourself to audition them before you decide what to buy.

Re: Recording through analog mixer.. color or not the sound?

I have Behringer Mixer and Behringer Sound card that everybody here told me
it's pure crap. However when I released my first album (see link) people were impressed
by the results. My Behringer experience has been good so far. No broken parts,
low noise, good gain. I know that Behringer is not top ...

How are the Event Opals?

+1. Torn between those and Focal Twins at this point, or possibly stepping up to Barefoot mm35's....
I had the opportunity to hear both Event Opal and Focal Twin alongside Adam S3X-H this weekend. They are all very good, but with quite different sound. Event Opal sure ...

Re: i found the perfect studio monitors!(Genelec)

A pair of headphones will probably give you a better understanding of what's happening in the low end than a sub in a room that has no treatment.

Yeah, I have Sennheiser HD 650 phones. They are useful for that.

Thanks for the input.
Sorry, bad advice. Low end is exactly what no headphone on ...

Re: i found the perfect studio monitors!(Genelec)

I am still tossing up between 8030a with a 7050b or just a set of 8040a with no sub, I do all electronic stuff, I rent, so my studio space changes every once and a while & i don't think the land lord would like me treating the room...

Thoughts?

cheers
I would pick 8040. Subs are tricky to get to ...

Re: i found the perfect studio monitors!(Genelec)

My monitors do double for just listening. I think Adams are good for that. Except that they BREAK.
I'm sorry to hear that. I've had my A7:s for a couple of years now and haven't had any problems at all.

So, 8030s would not be too much for my room?
A7 is actually a bigger monitor, so if those ...

Re: i found the perfect studio monitors!(Genelec)

For you people who know Genelecs, as I look to replace my (currently broken) Adam A7 monitors...

My room sucks. It's 10Wx20Lx8H feet (1600 cu. ft.). My mixing desk is on the short wall, unfortunately. My ears about about 3.5 to 4 feet from the speaker. I plan to put at least some treatment in the ...

Re: new soundcard?

Since you are using a Mac I would definately recommend you also consider Apogee's soundcards.

Apogee's AD/DA converters and preamps are really nice, and they work flawlessly on Macs with the ...

I've been a Sennheiser fan for many years and I'm using HD600 for listening and mixing. From the brief test I did with HD650 I couldn't really hear any difference between the two. They both sound amazing and are really comfy to wear even if you use them for several hours. They do, however, not work ...
