Re: Tip: Tool to use Ableton Push with Reaper is here
Looks interesting - any chance of.a version that runs in OSX? Is the exe just a max runtime or something more involved?

Re: passing CC/sysex to synth from controller?
This max for live device will send CCs and can be controlled from your controller: http://www.maxforlive.com/library/device/1800/multimappercc Also if you have "track" enabled on the midi input of yr controller, and the output yr synth is connected to, you should be able to pass the midi C...

Download Clyphx by stray. The Macrobat part of it allows you to send midi CCs from macros.

The part of the reference page about 'clip strips' has controls for manipulating the current clip. Hope this helps!

Re: is it possible to access and edit (midi)clip without a mouse
If you own any of the supported controllers then Stray's Mapease could do this for you.
http://www.nativekontrol.com/MapEase_Se ... utton-Clip Strips
It supports APC40/20, Akai MPD32, Korg Nanokontrol 1/2, Livid Code, Livid Ohm64, Livid OhmRGB.
Stray is strong in the script-fu.

Re: is it possible to access and edit (midi)clip without a mouse
there are some controller scripts that can do this. the one that springs to mind is LPC live, which works with the launchpad. you could probably code something yourself if you want to get into the python API scripting.

Re: BCR2000 not working properly
i've sometimes had problems with my BCR. i found that sometimes when i'm midi mapping, live will set the mode to something other than absolute, making it funtion strangely. setting it manually back to absolute fixes that.

Re: Roland PG-300 as controller on Live Suite 8.4b
You can use Macrobat (part of Clyphx) to send sysex strings from macros in Live. I have an Alpha Juno with no programmer and was able to control it fully from Live using empty midi racks.

Re: Roland PG-300 as controller on Live Suite 8.4b
It's probably not entirely impossible to use, but you'd probably have to use Bomes midi translator or similar to change the sysex etc into CCs.
Im assuming you have the PG to edit a Juno or something? If not, sell it! They seem to go for crazy money on eBay!

Re: Are real analog synths warmer but retro-sounding ?
I've invested in several mid-80s analog rack units recently that sound dated as hell if you rely on presets and standard MIDI but really come to life when you roll your own patches and employ SysEx automation. (Currently researching best methods of SysEx automation, BTW.) You can use Macrobat (part...

Re: The old 'controlling hardware with midi rack macros' trick.
Not sure if this is helpful, but there is another way of sending midi CCs from macros using Macrobat, which is part of Clyphx. It allows you to just give a macro a special name plus the CC number to send, and it will just work! So you can for instance just make a bunch of empty midi effect racks, na...

Ableton doesn't respond at all to sysex, and I'm pretty sure you won't be able to use NRPNs for remote in live either. Sorry!

Re: Touchscreen
No Experience but i'd say it would be fiddly... There is no access easily to keyboard shortcuts so just copying and pasting things would be a pain. It's funny. I have been in the PC music software game since day DOS and how things are changing. Originally, only the PC keyboard was ever used. No MID...
