Follow actions. I am having issues right now trying to get an unwarped track to loop properly (unwarped because it's a very soft field recording I want to use as a bed, and warping causes sound distortion). I understand the concept of how follow actions work, but even after reading the FM and the st...

John, I do exactly what you say (it's what I was doing before) and I get the same thing: nothing. Well, SOMEthing, in that the arrow in the clip slot starts pulsing as soon as I launch the clip, then stays pulsing while the clip plays, goes silent for the same amount of time, then plays again, etc. ...

Johnisfaster, I'm getting frustrated trying to loop my unwarped clips with follow actions. It's weird what happens. The length of the loop is set for the number of seconds, follow action is "play again," with probablility of 1:0 so that it will always happen. The file plays once, then the ...

Hey John and Superflat-- Well, the beds are of all different lengths, since they aren't tied to any kind of quantization. But doing copy-paste in arrangement view sounds like a possibility. And setting follow actions sounds like it could work well, since I cut the beds in an external editor to loop ...

Soft field recordings sound weird when warped

Hello all-- I am returning to Live 5 after an absence; now once again I dream of doing pieces improvised rather than "composed" (I've been working in Reason for years). I'm getting deeper into Live than ever before. I love it!! Question, though. A lot of what I do is rooted in using field ...

Calibrations on mix sliders in session view

Hello all-- I've been away from Live for awhile; just coming back & kind of starting over, in Live 5. It seems to me that for mixing, having some calibration on the sliders would make it more accurate potentially. Having to go back and redraw the automation later is kind of a pain. Doesn't have ...

Music has been my life, all my life. I'm turning 60 this year, and I've played the violin for 55 years, almost 35 professionally. Just about every possible context a fiddle could play in: classical orchestras, orchestras backing pop headliners, musicals in the pit, string quartets at weddings, the o...

Hello Johnisfaster-- Thanks for the tip. So, if Live 5 opens totally parallel to Live 4, could I open a session in Live 4 if I wanted (while I was still learning the ins and outs of Live 5) without confusing things? About Reason 3: I had none of the install problems that some people did (which I thi...

Finally installing Live 5

Hello people-- I have been away from working with Live for several months, doing projects with Reason and also a lot of music notation work with Finale. (By the way, any installation problems with Live, and Reason 3.0 as well, probably pale in comparison to what Finale 2006 users experienced; it STA...

How about "Application Support" in the OSX Library?

Should these items also be trashed? I have separate folders that were coexisting, downloaded when I installed 4.0.1, 4.0.4, and 4.1. They seem to be doing just fine together, but should they go bye-bye before installing 5? And should I have been doing this all along when installing 4.x upgrades? The...

I saw "Doctor T" when I was a kid, when it first came out (I'm almost 60). Scared the living crap out of me... I think my parents regretted having taken me (they were very hip for the time, but nightmares are nightmares). I've seen it a couple times since on video, and it didn't make me cu...

Thanks to you too, CWoodOne, and DJ Retard again!! I would be looking at running probably 6-8 tracks. The "moment of creation," as you put it, DJ Retard, wouldn't be a concern, 'cause I would have worked all that out in midi in Finale (using the combination of GM and Quicktime sounds) befo...

Thanks, DJ Retard, for your reply! So, do you think the Freeze Function in Live 5 is not really usable? I don't need a setup that functions in "realtime," but that will allow for the mixing of these Finale output tracks (files generated by the Garritan Personal Orchestra) laid into another...
