i am confused, what the hell you want to do?

you want to record 4 separate stereo channels and re-record those into one stereo channel? right?

and you have a 8 channels card, right?

well, then route everything like in the screenshot, come in at channel one with 1/2 , channel 2 with 3/4 etc. etc ...

external outs from ableton to hardware mixer and then back to computer again.

I hope you have a good reason to do that.
Anyway be very careful, cause you could easily make an wire loop and cause huge damage to your ears and speakers.

My idea :

You should add a track in ableton, select a stereo input from your soundcard (should be enabled in the prefs), for instance "audio ...

Mixdown

I have one questions about how to mixdown 4 different external channels into one audio file for mastering. I'm sending 4 different buses from Ableton to 4 different channels on my mixing console and then I want to rout it back but I don't have any clue how to do it. Anybody knows?

Ableton vs Logic engine

I guess its a pretty common question in the industry world and I feel that Logic audio engine sounds so much better than Ableton but on the other hand its so much simplier to work in Ableton.

Im always producing track in Ableton and rewiring it to Logic where I mixing it. Sounds better.

Crashing

Having big problem with Ableton. Im using it as rewire from Logic and sometimes when im opening the project again and im clicing anywhere within Ableton then it crashing. The problem doeasnt showing up when im opening only ableton.

workomgwith latest version of Logic and Ableton on latest Leopard.
