Re: Phrase synth behaviour like IPS

From what you wrote, you want a tool to do the following: 1. Play as many copies of a MIDI clip as you like, one copy per key being played. 2. You want the clip to transpose to the notes of the keys being played. 3. You want each note of the clip to be corrected in pitch to match a specified scale/...

Re: Phrase synth behaviour like IPS

It was more like an algorithmic re-sequencer which took a predefined pattern as a seed . It could accept incoming realtime notes and useing the seed "pattern" as a template to re-groove, repitch and refactor the input based on the various modulator choices. The series of modulators included LFOs, r...

Re: Phrase synth behaviour like IPS

You can select the "Launch Mode" in any Clip. May need to click the round "L" button in the bottom left of Clip View to show the Launch Box options. The default is "Trigger", which plays the Clip until the end. But you can set Clips to "Gate", in that mode it will play only while you press the butt...

Re: Phrase synth behaviour like IPS

I just want to play chords realtime human input, not programmatically. OK, I have a hard time understanding this IPS. If you want to play chords freely, what prevents from doing that? I get that there's a flexible style of working you want. Maybe a Cubase manual excerpt could clear this thing up? P...

Re: Phrase synth behaviour like IPS

Interactive Phrase Synth, now there's a name I haven't heard for a long time. http://i42.tinypic.com/2s8pyc2.gif It was very flexible, effectively a midi processor which took pattern input as a template and allowed a bunch of note operations on it. In the image above the little arrows are pullsown ...

Re: Transforming Midi Events between types

Thanks doghouse for your reply Im a bit like you...been using midi (even for my own light controllers) since about 88 I agree with the right tool but underneath Im talking about the creative seed. If I come up with a riff on keys, that same seed can be used on mulitple levels of control also...its n...

Re: Phrase synth behaviour like IPS

If I create a monophonic clip ie only 1 voice sounding, and then want to play a chord ie the equivalent of 3 clips playing each mono clip at a different interval, its not possible. Chord MIDI effect doesn't work? You could change preset per clip. Thanks Unfortunately no. I just want to play chords ...

Re: Phrase synth behaviour like IPS

I have no idea what you want, as I never used that in Cubase. Maybe after my time with it. Have you checked out MIDIvolve ? (Requires Max For Live ) Thanks for your reply. Midivolve looks great but is overkill Ill try and be clearer; ATM you can play a midi clip chromatically by using using remote ...

Re: Phrase synth behaviour like IPS

Ill put it another way...does anyone want to play a clip polyphonically like an arp but using the unique notes in a midi clip? Or does everyone just hold a finger down on the most beaten cliches of midi ie arp?

Re: Transforming Midi Events between types

Am I missing something here or does no one eg take a percussive midi note phrase and want to turn that rhythm into filter open/close for trance/chill gating?

Transforming Midi Events between types

In Cubase, there is a logic editor whereby you can eg take note values and scale them in various ways and at the same time transform them into controllers. What is the most elegant way to achieve this in Live? eg I have played in a percussive phrase and would like to transform the notes into CC20 an...

Phrase synth behaviour like IPS

Back in the day, in Cubase on the atari, there was a great playable pluing called 'Interactive Phrase Synth'...it was a huge beast...bit like an arp is an understatement but basically one of the functions was like this; you could define a monophonic custom ‘clip’ wtih various parameters eg scale (an...

Re: Track ID by Name Search?

You'd have to scan all the tracks, gather their ID's, use the ID's to get the name and then perform your match. Cheers D How to do it is not really an issue, it's whether or not functions like this are available in a prefabricated version, I'm not sure how well a graphic language would lend itself ...

Re: Undo/Immediate rerecord

It's a feature request...api only reflects the core system. I guess the question is...could that type of function be cobbled out if current api features or is it so intrinsic ie such a natural part of a live looping process that it deserves core functionality.. I think it should be a core feature. ...
