Re: mastering with ableton

Yes sorry I meant bit depth not sample rate (very long day at work  ). Thanks for the confirmation, I thought I was doing it right but suddenly had a special moment and became unsure about it. The MBIT+ is the algorithm is the one I'm using, nice to know that it is good choice. I will be upgra...

Re: mastering with ableton

Thanks for the reply. I have a fairly good grasp of the processes involved in mastering, I will definitely read the guide later though (I've seen it posted so many times and never got round to it). The dithering and sample rate conversion is the last thing in the process as it comes last in the chai...

Re: mastering with ableton

Hi, I just got a bit paranoid that I might be making mistakes when I'm mastering my stuff! I have been rendering my mixes to 24bit and then reimporting unwarped into a project with Ozone on the master channel set to 16bit for dithering and sample rate conversion purposes, then rendering to 16...

Re: audio and video on stage...

I haven't got too much experience with either (I used to use Resolume 2 on the pc a lot) but I have played around with both Resolume 3 and Modul8 briefly. I didn't know that Modul8 can play back audio, but from what I understand R3 can play both Audio clips (wavs etc.) and Video files with audio (av...

Re: Dubstep Wobble

Sometimes it can be interesting to layer up more than 1 instrument with different settings using racks. Try having 1 instrument (I use Massive but Analog would do as well) with a low pass filter linked to the LFO, and another using higher registers with a band pass filter with they same LFO speed an...

Re: ** Skrillex Is a BEAST **

@Necho:- I completely agree, just because a genre gets taken in a direction you don't like doesn't mean the genre is dead. It means that it's also being taken in several different directions which you may like. @Trypset:- The producers who were making the dubstep you liked in 06-08 are still making ...

Re: Who is leading the way in Dubstep in 2010?

I really like all kinds of dubstep and I really love "wobble" when it's used creatively. It's not all Rusko, Nero etc. (even though some of their older tunes are pretty good). People who right off anything with "wobble" as unintelligent are closing themselves off to some incredible music and the sam...

Re: New Dubstep Production Course!

I completely disagree that dubstep is dead. I think it's never been healthier, the fact that it's all over 1xtra and on the cover of CM means that the genre has matured enough to have people trying to cash in. Yes Loefah, Coki etc. made (and still make) great music but the genre has completely evolv...

Re: Dubstep producers - Whats your flow & plugins!

I would really recommend checking out the Mary Anne Hobbs show on BBC Radio1 if you want to keep up with whats happening in all areas of the scene. Some absolutely killer guest mixes by amazing artists and loads of exclusives. The most recent show called Building The Beat featured Starkey, Reso and ...

Re: Dubstep producers - Whats your flow & plugins!

@ contakt321, Sorry that wasn't a response to your point, just something I have noticed. Yeah I know what you mean, it very often gets written off because of the artists who make it to more mainstream awareness, and people don't really look any further. I'm really feeling Untold at the moment and se...

Re: Dubstep producers - Whats your flow & plugins!

Personally I like all the different styles of dubstep and I feel they all have their place in electronic music. I have been listening and going to nights for about 3 years and I have heard a lot of changes in style and feel but the 1 thing I think separates interesting dubstep from boring generic st...

Re: Features you would like to see in Ableton 9?

I would really like to see a 'control designer' that would allow you to create complex control mappings with keystroke conversion built in. The ability to create non-linear control curves and assign multiple ranges to a knob or fader in order to skip values or split a knobs range in to segments that...

Check out Cardopusher. He used to make pretty hectic breakcore but now concentrates on dubstep and his production has a bit of everything. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EwzlkhU33Ek http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7LX_eeFwyMI Also have a listen to Akira Kiteshi http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jN-SMV3Z...

Re: Dubstep.

Dubstep has progressed so quickly that it is very difficult to say what it actually is anymore. It seems to attract producers from lots of other genres so if you like any form of electronic music there will be some dubstep that you will like or at least appreciate. Early deep stuff: Mala, Loefah, Pi...
