Re: how to the snare/clap from a loop?
Rather than doing phase cancellation on the sliced clip do it to the whole audio loop in something like Audacity and then slice to midi the processed audio file. To be honest I don't think the snare would sound that good using phase cancellation (vocals don't) so you're probably better off making or...

Re: Ghost notes from other MIDI clip ?
That's exactly what I do! It's very useful. In my default template I have made all the minor scales in separate clips, so when I start a new track I just copy my premade clip for the appropiate scale and it makes creating a melody so much easier as I don't have to keep checking if the notes are in t...

Re: Have a Nice Day: my first Ableton project.
The reason the volume seems low on your ipod is because the track hasn't been mastered. Mastering involves various processing depending on the track. One of which is volume maximizing, multiband compression is also used to make a track louder. Mastering can be complex and takes time to learn. Try pu...

Re: Have a Nice Day: my first Ableton project.
It would be better to convert the file to MP3 first as WAV files take a long time to stream/download. Try Audacity, it's a free audio editor and can convert to MP3 using the free Lame plugin. Once you have converted the file you may want to join SoundCloud and upload your file there, it makes it eas...

Audio interface recommendation
Hi,
My M-Audio Delta 2496 needs replacing due to a fault so I'm looking for a new internal or external audio interface. I don't do any external recording so I only really need stereo out (phono). Budget up to £80, and I'm using a PC (Win7).
Any recommendations appreciated.
Thanks.

Re: How is Ableton on Windows 7 now??
I'm running Live 8.2 on Win 7 64 bit (4Gb RAM) and it works very well. I no longer get the out of memory error that I used to get sometimes when running on XP 32 bit.

Re: Creating Melodies
Create a chord progression and then add notes that follow the chords, then add some passing notes (which don't follow the chords) and you have a melody. It just takes some experimenting with different note lengths and positions. You can also use the bottom notes in each chord as a starting point for...

Dither question
I exported some 16bit tracks a while ago and I can't remember if I applied any dither to them. It's not a major problem as they're just for my ipod but I was wondering if there is any method of determining if a file has had dither applied? Thanks.

User defined effects on new midi / audio channel?
I use a series of effects on each channel (auto filter, EQ 8, utility ect) is there a way so that these effects are automatically added to a new channel when I select 'Create -> Insert Audio Track, Insert MIDI Clip' ?
Thanks,
Thanks,
