Re: recommend a headphone amp

If you need to provide different mixes to different folks (drummer mix, singer mix, key mix, guitar mix) I'd recommend considering something like this: Furman HDS-6; HR-6 http://www.furmansound.com/product.php?id=HDS-6 http://www.furmansound.com/product.php?div=01&id=HR-6 If you shop around you ...

Kindof a spooky track. It took me a while to realize it was playing - I initially thought frogs outdoors before it became more audible. Put it behind a scary scene in a movie and you're ready to go.

Re: PusH - a new guitar/melodic composition by DarKsLide

fwiw, At least in the recent past I've tended to find that guitars generally sound way better mic'd up -- but then I'm old school in that - and it does force you to decide on the guitar sound before you record. I've not messed with any of the newer guitar plugs though - I'm sure they're getting bett...

Re: GIVE YOUR MP3's

I agree totally - but I'm not trying to make a living at this either. I really just use music as an outlet and it's nice to know that people download my stuff and listen to it. (Just like I download their stuff and listen to it at work) I get a kick out of the occasional email from somebody who says...

Re: PusH - a new guitar/melodic composition by DarKsLide

Hi jamers, I listened to the first version but didn't post because I just didn't get what was going on. Electronica is a bit foreign to me anyway, so I'm out of my element but I do dig guitar stuff. The most current mix is way better in my view. I can hear what is happening, how the different parts ...

Re: Rock Instrmental - Ay Oh - guitar symphony

I just put up what may be a final version of the tune (same links as above for new version of song). Main changes include - quite a bit of drum edits - delay on harmonics (as suggested here) - cut out 16 bars early in the song (as suggested here) - maybe a tad of EQ. (probably didn't get to as much ...

Re: Guitar Track - Ableton Screen shot view

Really nice atmosphere created. In my mind I picture Crockett driving the streets of Miami at night listening to his radio with this playing as the backing track to the scenes.

Re: Rock Instrmental - Ay Oh - guitar symphony

I made my own and mixed it using the tips I suggested to you Whoa - You've got a southern rock thing going on there. I think I'm hearing your influences. I'll probably have time to finish the song up this weekend. I actually made the decision to do some of what you're talking about to cut time in f...

Re: Rock Instrmental - Ay Oh - guitar symphony

UKRuss - thanks for the detailed listened. Don't know if I can get to 3:40, but I get where you're coming from. Got that wide Floyd style layering early on, liking that. I like tha change through the piece as the guitar becomes more textured in the distortion...there is perhaps a bit too much repeti...

Re: Rock Instrmental - Ay Oh - guitar symphony

I also like your guitars tone very much. It reminds me of snowy white in thin lizzy. I admire the way you have not added a lot of reverb, sounds very clean and fresh. Thanks for comments. It's really a very basic setup. Yamaha HSS guitar >> Fulltone OCD pedal >> Blackheart Little Giant amp set at 3...

Re: Rock Instrmental - Ay Oh - guitar symphony

All - thanks for the comments this far. Made some revisions to the song this weekend. Getting closer to final. I APPRECIATE YOUR COMMENTS - IT HELPS ME ADJUST THE MIX. - Added a couple new parts to reduce repetitiveness. It's is loop based, but I don't want it to feel overly repetitive. - Added what...

Re: [Electronica] Loud and funny

som, I'm not into dance stuff, but this was easy for me to listen to. The slow part in the middle kindof got a bit free-form and lost me for a while but once music kicked back in. For lack of a better term - the sweeping toothbrush sounds were cool, and I liked the snare sound.

Yamaha RH-5ma are really good at the $50 price point. Nothing else that I've tried at $50 is even close.

Re: From Studio monitors to PC speakers

You can also setup several sets of speakers on the machine you mix on and alternate between them to identify problem areas. Have your studio monitors, cheap boombox speakers, and maybe something else. For some reason car speakers seem to act a bit different, not sure if you'd want to try to rig some...
