I'm looking for someone to try some song trading -- one person lays down maybe a couple of short tracks or musical ideas and sends the self-contained save file to the other person, who adds a little more and sends it back, repeat. Anyone tried this? :D

trust me drivers are needed. the firewire line is far from perfect. i still have this annoying problem, where Live 5 wont let me change the sample rate below or over 44.1 khz in the audio panel. People suggest changing the sample rate outside of live, and in the firewire audiophile's panel, but ...

there isn't a midi activity indicator in the M-audio mixer app but there is one in Live -- does it indicate it is receiving input?

I have used the MIDI ports on the fw410 and fw1814 with no problems, fwiw.

NL for drums? Not really what the NL is known for, is it? I think its percussion banks are a little weak. I guess they could sound ok if you EQ'd em right.

I'd love to pick up that Machinedrum sample CD, though, just to find out what all the Elektron fuss is about.

Maybe this was a "must ship by NAMM no matter what" case so this couldn't get fixed for the initial release? Dunno. So far I'm inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt

I'm not going to buy Operator. I don't even want "Operator (demo)" in my list of instruments. I paid a lot of money for Live -- I shouldn't have to deal with advertisements for other products in the application.

new FW WinXP drivers (I'm using FW410) no problems so far.

Live needs a lot of stuff more than support for a standard no one uses yet... see the other threads in here but I would vote for better midi editing and also an arpeggiator midi plugin.

I think Live is very good about not adding gratuitous features -- I don't think Live needs to be a trailblazer in ...

Every time I think I've found something that Cubase can do that Live can't I just read the manual a little more and figure out it's possible in Live.

according to the M-Audio knowledgebase you shouldn't 1) hotplug the 410 or 2) Use Windows XP SP2 (I do both these things) but I don't see where they say don't daisychain.
