William Basinski Disintegration loops. how to replicate?
So I will assume anyone opening this thread is familiar with the work in the title, otherwise, why would you open it? I'm interested in creating a kind of hour long, slowly degenerating loop in the style of the Disintegration loops, and am wondering about the best signal path/ flow using the various...

Re: Wow...had to go back to 8.1...???
I'm getting this too! Crazy amounts sometimes only playing 2 or three audio tracks. Haven't tried the workarounds, but even if they work it's ridiculous. Live PA in three days, I'm thinking I'll use 7 which seems rock solid. (Also suggesting it's not a RAM issue ^^)

Re: With each new update of Live 8...
Sorry if this is dumb..... I have 8.2 Suite. I want to keep 7.10 since it has been the most stable. I found recently though that I still have 6LE, 8.1 (buggy as hell on my system) and 8.1.3 installed. Can I just drag 6LE and 8.1 to the trash or will this somehow mess with the 8 Library. 7 has a sepa...

Hmm. might have to look into that...outershpongolia wrote:
have you tried slaving both of them to something else, like a piece of hardware that will send the tempo?

Syncing with Traktor. 2 computers. Problem.
OK. My Buddy and I have a gig coming up where he runs traktor and I run Ableton. We jack into a 4 channel mixer and his Traktor sets the master tempo. We sync via MIDI between 2 NI audio interfaces. Anything melodic played on my machine drifts like crazy due to the fact (I think) that Traktor has th...

Go through the lessons.
I know it sounds really obvious, but they can help a lot.
There are some great tuts on the web too.

Re: Tips for concealing subliminal sounds?
Reverb?
Maybe set up a channel and record the audio drowned in reverb.
Hit stop.
Use the decaying reverb tail....
Depends on the type of sound I guess.

Re: anyone use Akai MPD32?
I use it differently for different jobs. For a recent live set I had 12 pads mapped to trigger scenes and 4 to a mini drum rack because I wanted to be able to "drum" and trigger clips without changing banks. Rotaries were assigned to control various FX parameters and to change "loop s...

Re: Dj'ing with Ableton....
Also hitting play on the 2nd track doesn't always seem consistent since Ableton seems to wait for the end of the 4 count before playing it, . Change your global quantise setting. It's the box at the top which would say "1 bar" going by what you're describing. (Not at home so can't provide...

Hmm if you only needed to shorten it by a few minutes, I would have suggested increasing the master tempo, but for the amount you are talking about that won't work

Re: New Macbook Air - A good gigging machine?
Do I edit HD video on it. No (Thats what the g5 tower at home does) Well, we're discussing the new Air and the benchmark tests are showing that you won't have any problem editing HD video on it: " the top-end 13-inch MacBook Air healthily beats the standard 13-inch MacBook Pro despite the Air'...

Re: New Macbook Air - A good gigging machine?
I have a first generation MBA. (1.6 CORE2duo 2GB Ram from memory.) I actually won it in a competition, so it would not have been the laptop I would have bought for that money, however, it is pretty tasty and I regularly run a 12 channel Liveset, (9 Audio, 1 drumrack, 1 operator, 1 impulse). Admitted...
