yes the mutek website has tons of excellent livesets (and some dj ones)
i also suggest copacabannark (cabanne + ark) and the magda set (with final scratch)

i agree: reaktor, tassman and absynth have amazing possibilities.
my preferred between the 3 is reaktor, wich has a huge library and interesting "machines" (in the electronic machines vol1+2)
it still depends on the taste and the style of music you are working on...

i was wrong...
finally i found the article in the magazine it is written

usb1 = 12 mb/s
firewire = 400(A)mb/s, 800(B) mb/s
usb2= 480 mb/s
pcmcia= max 133 mb/s (cardbus type II*, 32 bit)

the magazine is of january 04..so my memory is not as good as i thought :?

i read it some time ago in a german magazine called "keys" (www.keys.de), there was thread for the more reliable audio interface type (usb, usb2, pcmcia, firewire). i don't remember exactly the rates but the firewire bus was the fastest, then usb2, usb and far away was pcmcia. i'll look if...

i think the pcmcia port is much slower as the firewire,
the interest of using firewire ports is the speed, if you pass it in a pcmcia card it will transfer at a lower rate...
a chain seems to me a better option

the same for me,
if i load a couple of vsti, depending on wich ones, (reaktor for exemple is a vsti which uses a lot of cpu) i can reach 40-50%...with a p 2.8 ghz and 1 gb ram.

but it is for the right hand, and the parameters would move when i switch the scenes with the mouse... 8O

i would suggest to use chord substitutions, so that you can play all the chords in the same place/position, or arrange in a way that some notes of the chord are played by different instruments (for exemple bass)...
