Re: Looping audio without release cutoff. Possible?
yes...we are kind of on different wave lengths. Honestly...I record and play loops live with ableton. I don't use prerecorded loops in any way...so...there is the major discrepency...i automatically assumed the OP and you were talking about looping in the live realm...i.e. with live instruments like ...

Re: Looping audio without release cutoff. Possible?
Audio Loopers don't do this and quite frankly you obviously don't understand what a hard disk recorder does. No hard disk recorder can do what you ask (not even Sonar). If you are asking for a looper to start a loop and then when it goes to repeat (loop), sound like a loop which is about to happen ...

Re: Looping audio without release cutoff. Possible?
What you are talking about is something that is inherently a problem with looping audio...always has been...always will be. You want perfect loops every time...there more to it than that. A hard disk looper like ableton only knows what you throw at it...it does not cross fade (yet)...it doesn't not ...

Re: Looping audio without release cutoff. Possible?
That's quite a bit! I cant believe a program like ableton doesn't make this an easy option. Its such a simple musical idea. I think the only program you can do it in without hassle is Sonar. Everywhere else it seems you have to make two audio tracks for one loop, frikin' crazy.

Re: Using Ableton Live with a band playing live
You dont just have to sync to a click. Often I'll sync to a very simple beat and send that to headphones...or maybe a simple pattern with snare on the 2 and 4 and quarter note hats syncopated and quantized to taste...that way the pattern the drummer plays to can swing depending on the music...i also ...

Hey man,
Regarding the master bus. I leave it at unity...i.e. 0 db...the idea is to keep the summing from clipping and getting cluttered. If you are still peaking out, or in my case need to lower the master outs so that I'm calibrated using my external mixer then I just use the utility pug-in and ...

You have stumbled upon one of the more difficult aspects of using Ableton Live IMHO. Not that it is hard or anything, just that it takes a little foresight to get everything working (and sounding) properly. I imagine that each musicians situation is unique, so there is no 'one size fits all' answer ...
