What you are talking about is something that is inherently a problem with looping audio...always has been...always will be. You want perfect loops every time...there more to it than that. A hard disk looper like ableton only knows what you throw at it...it does not cross fade (yet)...it doesn't not ...

That's quite a bit! I cant believe a program like ableton doesn't make this an easy option. Its such a simple musical idea. I think the only program you can do it in without hassle is Sonar. Everywhere else it seems you have to make two audio tracks for one loop, frikin' crazy.

Often I'll sync to a very simple beat and send that to headphones...or maybe a simple pattern with snare on the 2 and 4 and quarter note hats syncopated and quantized to taste...that way the pattern the drummer plays to can swing depending on the music...i also ...

Has anybody tried syncing external gear like an mpc with Logic, Cubase or whatever with live in rewire mode??

I havent been able to get my gear completely set up to test this.
But i think that will be my workaround with Live and my mpc for live stuff.

You have stumbled upon one of the more difficult aspects of using Ableton Live IMHO. Not that it is hard or anything, just that it takes a little foresight to get everything working (and sounding) properly. I imagine that each musicians situation is unique, so there is no 'one size fits all' answer ...

piping a 3630 into live is not worth it...you audio will sound shitty.

check out these two pretty inexpensive compressors.

If your going to go through all the trouble to pipe your audio out of the box...then for gods sake DO NOT USE a 3630...it works for live sound (kinda)...but really does not scratch ...
