Re: waves, mastering eq and compression

It's my job to make things loud for other people, and I couldn't disagree more. A proper arrangement, a decent mix, and you'd be surprised what some very minor eq and limiting can do. No need for all these forms of dynamic reduction when you're self mastering just to make things "loud". O...

Re: Mapping live sets by energy of the crowd

http://imgur.com/4opHm I have played over 500 shows. This is what works. The red circle is the most important part of your set, and it sets the good DJs from the bad ones. You need to play music thats not bad, but doesnt hit particularly hard at the very beginning. And when everyone is settled in re...

Re: How Do You Setup Your Drums?

This has taken me years to figure out but i have found a formula that works 100% of the time and sounds effin great. First of all use good samples(most of abletons drum machine samples sound horrible, the real ones are good, but by and large get some other samples) Then, set up a send and return ins...

Re: waves, mastering eq and compression

Ok, everyone tries to complicate this as much as possible. The concept is VERY easy, execution, obviously less so, but at least it puts you on the right track. I always read EQ, CLIP, COMP, LIMIT. But, i think with the cleanness of modern VSTs you can mix and match a little bit, but the idea is the ...

Re: Operator's bass is deeper than my hardware synths

sound card limitation on the inputs? try sending Operator out of the computer and back in through the same path. make sure the RIAA curve isn't being applied on the inputs as well. The RCA(RIAA) curve is ONLY for phono RCA style inputs. So unless dude is plugging his virus into phono-preamps, i rea...

Re: make that money, make make that money baby!

Quance You have a lot of arguments but nothing real except yadayada lasting 4 pages. Provide us, poor ableton users we are, some links to proove your masterness. I would be pleased to praise you if I could hear some great tracks from you... my argument is not that you have to be a master or even be...

Re: make that money, make make that money baby!

hmm, well this post was more about getting an idea of what different levels of DJs make (not the huge ones everyone knows those are ridiculous amounts) and how big you really have to be to live decently while making music full time -- not a misery rant on a day job or a cry for sympathy and sarcasm...

Re: UNKLE Celestial Annihilation Cover

Good overall, your cutting is pretty sloppy. You need to cut the bass more on your turntable too. Also, i would remix the track in some way, as it is now, its kinda like a slightly lower energy cover. But work on the cutting, thats by far the weakest point. You are doing too much work with your left...

Why are my channel meters showing pre effects/fader levels?

I simply cannot figure this out and ive been looking for hours just today! WHY THE FFF are my channel meters just showing the input and not reflecting effects of fader changes? This is clipping master with channel at full volume: http://i.imgur.com/7Rx5Ul.png This is good master volume with channel ...
