Re: why should I get a macbook pro?

I switched to mac about 6 mos ago. Been pc for 12 years up to that. What happened to me was that I looked at my desk and had 6 computers running different flavors of windows (I do a fair amount of troubleshooting web design on different browsers / OS's). Got a macbookpro and parallels and run everyt...

Re: Effects Processor

Ah - that works great. Thanks.

Follow up question. How do I now get that effect channel to turn on/off and maybe even change volume?

Re: presonus firebox to speakers

The firebox has 1/4" phone plugs for the outputs. Use the Main Out 1 & 2 on the back of the unit to go to your speakers.
The front 2 inputs are the combo (xlr & 1/4") and the rear 2 ins are 1/4"

Re: Latency in Ableton

Do you have to rerun the lesson when you switch interfaces or do you simply make a note of them and change them?

Effects Processor

I'm may be dense here and missing the obvious, but here goes...

Is there a way to run a line in (mic, guitar, etc.) and do the following simultaneously
- turn off monitoring
- process and listen to an effects rack (wet only - dry signal will be heard at board)
- record the signal to a track

Effect Latency

Ok - I've run the audio hardware setup project and now am happy with the response when recording. My fulltrip latency is running around 26.5ms. If I use Live as an effect rack in a live situation and ONLY monitor the effect outputs (not the direct signals) - will "Driver Error Compensation"...

Re: Performing & Switching Between 'Live' Sets

I've been performing for a while and use a completely different approach. Playing rock, classic rock, and originals along similar veins. No electronic sounding stuff other than the odd loop thrown in here or there. Usually perform with a drummer and myself (guitar/voc) - the rest of the band is in L...

Re: pc to Mac

You'll need to install the mac version. Both versions should be on your install disc.

Re: Automatically trigger scene

Thanks for your replies. I like both approaches - but I think the midi-clip version will work better for my purposes because I'm looking to jump a whole scene which has about 12 different tracks. So I can see programming all the different follow actions would get a bit tedious. But - I really like t...

Automatically trigger scene

What I'm trying to do is setup song parts and avoid having to trigger scenes while performing. So, say I have an 8 bar clip playing on one scene. Is there a way to trigger a new scene automatically at the end of that clip?

Dynamics During a Performance

Hi I'm using Live as my primary "band" - each song has about 5 scenes which I trigger via a midi foot controller. This works pretty well but when I want to stretch a section out and maybe jam over it a bit, things start to sound pretty dry. I'd like to have something where if a certain sce...

Re: [Video] Peter Gabriel band's using Ableton Live

Was it my vid sync or at the end of the first vid (performance shots), the audio sounded like PG was still singing but had dropped the mic away from his mouth.

Was that the Live background tracks, or my vid sync off, or was it a Ashely Simpson moment?

Re: OT; Friendship and boundaries

In a similar boat here. I sit at a computer all day running a web dev business. The last thing I want to do when I get home is even look at a computer. Well, at least 3 times a week the wife says "can't get/send my email". arrrrgh!!! At least you were dealing with your friend's wife - it's...

Followup for Mac Users - handy app called Quicksilver can be used to create keystroke combos to launch Live .als files. http://code.google.com/p/blacktree-alchemy/downloads/list Also some other links discussed previously: Bome's Midi Translator: http://www.bome.com/midi/translator/ Midi Yoke: http:/...
