Re: can you say "smoke weed" on a song for radio

so I'm finishing a song but a part of the lyrics say "smoke weed"... before i send this out to get mastered, i'm wondering if i should just clean it up first? I'm in the USA but i'm not sure if that's considered explicit and not suitable for radio.. ideally, i'd have 2 versions, but i don't want to...

Re: legalities about sampling / sound usage

I'm not a lawyer, but I know for a fact if you use even a millisecond of a sample it is considered infringement. The duration makes no difference. Not quite... Lawyers can write whatever they like in a contract (within the legal realms). Until it makes it into a court of law and a dispute arises, it...

exactly, one mic=one channel. laws of recording.

Re: legalities about sampling / sound usage

In regard to the sampling part of your question I did a dubstep remix using a Madonna acapella. All the drum parts were 100% original. I never intended or tried to sell it. However, Warner Music sent Soundcloud a cease and desist letter, so Soundcloud forced me to take it down. To bad too, cause it...

Re: Next step in Music Theory?

I feel you man. I get to a certain point in a song and just lose it. You know what's funny is, most of the time, the simpler I keep the song the more I will flow along making it. So I'd say just start making simple little songs. Work on creating your own sound and tone while doing so. Then, maybe m...

Re: Ableton has weak output..truth?

Great article shuutboi. I pretty much had a hunch that there would be no difference and it is truly about your mixing or mastering skills. Some of the greatest sounding music has been made on analog equipment. Not to mention they dealt with live mixing and destructive editing back then,so we should ...

Ableton has weak output..truth?

It seems some comrades of mine argue that when rendering their music, pro tools or logic provides a better sound on the final bounce, but have not provided any factual proof. Has anyone ever did a comparison with let's say Pro Tools when doing a final master? Was there any difference? Discuss.

Ableton grid buttons

Maybe this has been discussed or maybe it's allready a feature and I'm too stupid to figure out the setting, but I think it would be a great idea if Live had buttons to switch the gird notations I took a screen shot and with added text to where the buttons would go. The text is a little big but I thi...

Authorization error

I seem to be getting this message with one of my sessions. The session was created in 8.1.3. I just now upgraded to 8.1.5 and still get the same alert and yes I own a legit copy of LIVE. Basically I'm getting the orange bar on the bottom stating I can not save and have limited use until I authorize...

Looking for an engineer (Paid job)

I'm currently working on my new LP and have recorded a few songs in Live 8. I have 1 track that I could use some help with. It's a track I produced with ZION I. Basically your job would be mixing the vocals, samples, and drums. The pay is not huge, but it's fair and you will get your credit. Plus, good...
