setting the clip start point earlier than the loop start point is not such a great option because the clips' downbeat isn't in sync with the global downbeat anymore. meaning you need quite a low quantization and trigger the clip just right. the follow action idea seems reasonable. i'm assuming you n...

i've had exactly the same problem. i was never sure if there is a solution to this that i don't know about or if live doesn't have this feature. my solution is also to get the clip over to arrangement view and add say 3/4's of a bar of silence then consolidate and back. its very common musically to ...

no i understand it. i've seen some great turntableists but i just think the effort to become good at it and the sonic possibilities it offers are not impressive. its a matter of taste though i guess. part of it is that the typical scratch sound even with all of its flavours bores me. used sparingly ...

do you mean by key release effect what happens when you release a pressed midi key?

there's a nice way to do that using the "note length" midi effect. it can convert a note-off into a note-on

i've always found turntableism quite overrated. for me it falls somewhere between instrument and sampler being kind of mediocre at both. you need immense practice to do things that you can do much easier on other devices.

i just wrote my first few vsts in java using jvstwrapper. its quite simple once you get the hang of it. theres also a package called jvaptools that builds on jvstwrapper. it allows you to code vsts within the vst host e.g. ableton. so you can edit and code your vst while you're running it... first v...

i really dont understand why people want as many myspace friends as possible. what purpose does it serve having loads of myspace friends that have nothing in common with you? is it cool to have a high number of friends?

i haven't posted the source yet. it was a quick all-night hacking session and needs a bit of cleaning. here's a demo i just put together. its two of my arpeggiators using some midi clips as arpeggiator patterns that trigger each other using random follow actions. it uses simple minor blues chord pro...

wrote a simple flexible arpeggiator vst

i had a brilliant idea. at least i think its brilliant. i was frustrated with the arpeggiators i've been using. in my live set i use a lot of arpeggiators because there are many chord changes and i dont want to change my midi clips each time i decide a chord doesnt fit and could be different. so i w...

i had a look at energy xt. the problem is the arpeggiator takes the incoming chords and doesn't arpeggiate between the notes in the chord but transposes the whole chord up and down depending on how it is programmed. good tool though...
