You can make soundfonts from within Crystal. There is a good tutorial in the User Guide at the Crystal website.

With Crystal I'm using one of the unused patches. These patches set all parameters to a nuetral state except the obvious "time" parameters needed to "release" the oscillator's sustain. I did also find out how to use the Apple's DLS Music Device to play soundfonts.

I've learned that I can use the Crystal synth also to play soundfonts and also maybe the DLSMusic Device. I'll check the other recommendations mentioned by both of you.

Does the Simpler support multi layer samples. I'm hoping that it does so that saxes and trumpets sound natural over a wide range. I have access to some nice horn sounds at sonomic.com but I don't want to download them until I know that Simpler provides support. Also, will these samples need to be in ...
