my point being that having only a laptop on stage and standing clicking a mouse for 90 minutes or so must be the most awefull boring 'show' imaginable... interesting hijacking of my original thread, but cool nevertheless. Vince, you ever seen the chemical brothers 'live'? who cares if they are clic...

good point r.e. rights management, ive seen a lot of content protection using digital licences in media player, but I dont know how it would work in a DJ context where the format must be a) high quality and b) highly transportable across different audio apps. very interesting tho, im yet to find a d...

Bye bye vinyl...but how can I buy the files instead?
due to my use of live, id like to be able to buy decent music (the kind of stuff I usually get as vinyl from places like www.juno.co.uk) but in WAV or MP3 form. Does anybody (specifically in the UK) know of any online shops or record labels who are missing out the middle man and selling the producer...

Should be no problem, the file types are standard across windows versions. You might notice a performance hit though, as XP has a load of services (background apps) that you dont get with old versions of windows. There should be some posts in here on how to tweak XP so it doesnt load all of these ad...

shane, touche ;-) nice comeback to my cheeky dig at trance... but nice one for posting, Id like to get a bit more into this thread... Firstly, im not into replicating the 1210 approach (as we're talking about the evolution of performing here...). But like M-lab hinted at, I wanna investigate what I ...

Advanced DJ techniques
Anybody out there got any thoughts/techniques for doing more interesting things with live (in a DJ context) other than fading/dropping in or out channels etc? No offence, but Ive never been a fan of the sasha/any other trance DJ/gentle fading technique, and have much more respect for house DJ's like...

Nice one Jes/statik... I guess im used to cue-ing on the fly, and dropping out tunes if they dont fit while monitoring on headies. which I think you can get around by being a bit more regimental and matching up all the samples before the gig. But dont you ever need to monitor something you are going...

WHat additional hardware do I need for DJ-ing?
dear all, ive been playing with Live now for a few weeks, and have come to the conclusion its an amazing tool for DJ's. Before using it I thought it would take away all of the fun/spontaneity/randomness/hands on bits that we love about DJ-ing, but I think its going to create something different to c...
