Best multichannel Aggregate Device Combos on either Monterey - Intel or Monterey - M1

Hello, I am working on a few sound-installations with Ableton / MAX. One is supposed to be 12.2 surround sound and the other is going to be either 8.2 or 16.2. channels . I've done some in the past with as many as 10.2, using the Focusrite Scarlett 18i20. However, that particular bit of hardware has...

Re: Ableton Acquires Cycling '74

I am so excited about all of this. This is insane. I am celebrating by learning a shit-ton of JS. Wheeeee!

Re: Ableton Acquires Cycling '74

Hey dude, you're getting way to much pranky and irrespectful here. This is supposed to be a discussion, not a male contest. You're already going too far right now, so if you mind about this community please think one more time before writing. It's awesome to debate... it sucks as soon as you don't ...

Re: Ableton Acquires Cycling '74

I think both cycling74 and ableton are pretty clear and consistent with their word. Also, they have an established respect for each other that seems quite transparent and established, historically in the public realm. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying anyone is lying, I'm sure they believe what th...

Re: Ableton Acquires Cycling '74

Besides what are the Max users saying about this step, the ones not using Live? Doesn't that mean the Max standalone version will disappear or at least get neglected? No, it doesn't mean that at all and Gerhard said it point blank in the interview. But in most merger cases this sort of rhetoric is ...

Re: Ableton Acquires Cycling '74

wow i'm impressed one can defend m4l's LFO so hard)) LOFA , have you seen the LFO implementation in Bitwig, or Reaktor? within one click you adjust direction, depth and offset. and which is a pain in the ass when doing that in Live. and yes, i'm still able to tweak that parameter after it's been se...

Re: Ableton Acquires Cycling '74

This thinking is exactly why I'm afraid of this buy out, because I fear many at Ableton share it. No a M4L LFO is not a good substitute for a native one at least until: 1.) Assigning the LFO to a parameter in Live does not limit me from modulating it via other means like with a controller or automa...

Re: Ableton Acquires Cycling '74

No sorry, if M4L hadn't been used so much to excuse not giving new (essential!) native devices... Could you please give me an example of an essential native device that's missing? I must know! Are you for real?! I even mentioned the LFO in my post  And if you are now planning to go on a tired...

Re: Feature Request: Load effects/instruments and Presets in Max

You're right though. No breathe being held here. And, going forward, you're mostly right. Live is increasingly an unnecessary dependency in what I am doing. Wish I would stop bitching out and just get more comfortable in Supercollider, but for now, it's much easier to repurpose 5-6 years worth of ha...

Re: Feature Request: Load effects/instruments and Presets in Max

I totally appreciate that, but I have several established projects that I would like to modularize. I understand your logic, but it doesn't apply to my interests. That said, it is a good strategy for redoing several years worth of work.

Feature Request: Load effects/instruments and Presets in Max

Pretty self-explanatory heading, right? There's been a million times that I've wanted to do something in Live but something like a limit on return tracks got in the way. So, how about, since y'all are sharing things so much, back and forth between one another, why not just make some of the devices u...

Re: Art installation using Maxforlive

Every time I post on this forum it reminds me of the enthusiastic fanboy that once spent ~6 years obsessively learning everything I could about Ableton and Max/MSP- even before they announced their collaboration. So, I must admit that it gives me tremendous satisfaction to post the following link: h...

Wow looks like a nightmare to build! Hope you had lots of help. :o I only say this cos I built an big led wall last year and it nearly killed me! Hasn't put me off though. I've got a hexagonal marquee and would love to build 6 led walls for it one day but $$$$$$$ Nice wall :) I assembled it three t...
