Re: Detachable Edit and Mixer Windows

Yeah, it’s not quite the same, as the detachable window idea, but at least you can have the session and arrangement views on different screens and maybe have one of those views with the expanded edit or mixer Windows. It IS better than I thought that Live offered, which was having a second monitor f...

Detachable Edit and Mixer Windows

I tried Cubase Pro 10 for a bit (I got during the ridiculously cheap cross grade offer in June), and I’ll probably stay with Live (the devil I know), but I came to really enjoy having the ability to detach the Edit and Mixer Windows and just toss them over to my 2nd monitor. Sure would be a nice add...

Re: Live 10 upgrade path

Weird issues notwithstanding in regards to Core Midi Like what? Logic (only 200 bucks) is suddenly looking good. It doesn't just look good, it is good. Best value music software on the market. Of course someone will bring up the price of a Mac as the "true" price for Logic. I have only he...

Re: Live 10 upgrade path

Oh good! I'm not the only guy who thinks the upgrade path for Suite owners is complete bullshit. I'm a Mac owner. Weird issues notwithstanding in regards to Core Midi, Logic (only 200 bucks) is suddenly looking good. I'll probably upgrade to 10 at some point but, I'm in no hurry. Is it me, or does i...

Re: Ableton 10 suggestions

I'd love to see Sampler either Host and Sample VST plugins, like DiscoDSP's Bliss, OR the live sampling feature now available in Steinberg's Halion 6, where a single note sample is automatically mapped chromatically across the keyboard

Re: Lofi, dirty sound the hard way

Look around a little and try some free vst plugs for spring and plate reverbs...I don't know why but, I find that squashing signals with Live's Compressor, sending various instruments to a return track with some plate reverb, and then using a limiter over the entire mix goes a long way toward a &quo...

Cool I'll try this today...I hope that this ability is not restricted to Live 6 as I am still using Live 5.

Any way to move entire scenes between live sets?

Just wondering if there is any way to move entire scenes (or groups) between live sets. I often start with some monkeying around with a new file & then find myself completely resequencing the track when I want to add it to my "live" set for playing out. There's gotta be an easier way. ...

smartelectronix.com, destroyfx.com, macmusic.org (since you have a mac they have a free plugs site in addition to their forum), kvraudio.com. the wah function is a dynamic filter....you can actually use abletons autofilter (automate a send from your signal) or you can get a similar effect with a low...

Gee, Live sure don't like Pluggo

I like alot of the Plugs that Pluggo Offers but it seems that if I do any changes to Pluggo Presets or some parameters while audio is running on my Mac (G4 powerbook 1.5ghz, 1.25 Gig RAM) I will crash the App. Anyone dealing with similar problems? Any workarounds?

What are your workaround solutions to the CPU load then. Are you just using Ableton for what it does best (loop manipulation) & using another app for final sequencing & editing. Or are you just running some tracks from RAM, etc?

Will Live ever be optimized for the Mac?

I would first like to say that I love playing around with Live, it's flexabilty in regards to sample manipulation & plug in use is just incredible but I am starting to run into some problems with Live's cpu usage on my G4 powerbook (1.5ghz, 1.25 gig of RAM). Even with 9 frozen tracks & 3 aux...

Well, the occasional pop/click/glitch has returned. I will have to try RAM mode now. I have the HD on one Firewire Port & the hard drive on another. Am I missing anything at this point? Geez... I am only running 8 frozen tracks with 3 Returns (nothing particulary fancy either - reverb & two ...

Yes I am using an Onyx firewire card that comes with the mixer...I have a FW400 port (Onyx) & an FW800 port. I did bump up the buffers on the plug ins (256) & on the audio out (750 samples) as well & this seems to help as far as sound quality & the pops & clicks have stopped, for...

The external HD is a 7200 RPM, I'll mess with the buffers a little, wiil this do much to ease the strain on CPU? & Assigning tracks to play off of RAM....would you do this to a select one or two, or as many as your RAM can bear?
