That's really lol, smutek! Glad you got the software at last. My wife and I only have two cats, and that's about all I can take at once! Best wishes for getting some work done in between the beasts... :) @ amo - thanks, I will have fun and make music, I just can't promise that it will be "good&...

Hi Atomic,

Just read your post (ferociously busy at the dayjob--publications and PR for a major university here) and will respond more later, when I have a mo.

But thanks for the details.

Cheers,

I would wait for sure. They are going to do the laptops and the mini first if i remember right. If you are hurting for powre just pick up a cheap pc to hold you off. You can pick up a desktp pc that will run fast as hell for about 600 bucks. I have a dual g5 and dont use it for live as it is way to...

Re: Anyone using the Maudio Firewire 410 with live5?

I have the oppertunity to replace my old ECHO mona soundcard with the firewire 410 for about 300 CAN and I am seriously thinking about doing it as it is smaller and has more outputs. I would like to hear from folks that are using this card with live5. Are there any problems with it? and what do you...

I've got the Ion and it sounds great to me. About as "analog" as you're going to get without spending $3,000+ on an Andromeda.

I'd recommend it.

I'm a fan of the Native Instruments line. The Arturia stuff is also quite good, but CPU hungry in a way that requires a pretty massive system to use fully.

NI is a great place to look, particularly FM7 and Pro53.

Burning Man--worth the trip, at least once

Yeah, I'd have to agree with you on this one. I had a phenomenal time a couple years ago, after SF pals tried for years to get me to join their little BM tribe. Finally went and it really did live up to the billing. I haven't been back b/c it *is* expensive and essentially desert camping under some ...

good luck. may the force be with you. As goofy as my post may be, I am 100% serious. So thanks man! I am confident I can do it. Don't get me wrong, I am not quitting smoking just so I can upgrade. I really want to quit smoking, so the idea of a yummy prize after 4 weeks of abstinence is a solid mot...

There sure are a lot of broke people on these boards. Bummer. I'm working two jobs as a researcher/writer at a university, which affords me plenty o' cash to indulge my gear lust. Don't always have as much time to *use* the bloody gear, but I get by. Usually have to start my music stuff around 11 p...

ha ha. Just the other day I was speaking with my cousin who is 36 maybe 37, he was telling me about a surprise 40th birthday party in the works for another cousin. I exclaimed, "OH MY GOD, Pete is 40 years old????" My cousin looked at me like I was a little looney, then it slowly dawned on...

I'd wait until you play with 5 a while, just in case you need a back-up in 4. Some people are reporting challenges with bugs in the newest version. I loaded 5 and haven't touched the previous version yet. I don't think you *need* to uninstall, though eventually it'll make sense to clear out the clut...

Trigger Finger doing the job

Mine has been reliable and a more reasonable alternative to the Akai rig selling for around $250. Paid $180 for it. Only gripe is the written support out of the box is limited, but then if you've used a MIDI trigger before it ain't rocket science.

I'd recommend.

MIDI issue with Alesis ION and LIVE 4

Hi, New to the forum with what may be a stupid question. I'm using the Alesis Ion keyboard through an maudio Audiophile USB interface to control softsynths on my PowerBook. It does that fine. However, I'm clearly missing a button or two when it comes to setting up the system so the the onboard Alesi...
