Re: electric guitarist looking for bass guitar sound

IMO a guitar pedal is not going to give you this. I agree that a bass guitar is the way to go. I have no problem playing what I want to play on the bass. (I'd recommend a Fender Precision.) You can then use amp models if you want. I think Peterson makes a guitar to MIDI interface, but it is not good...

Re: Not enough memory :((((

I've had that problem on occasion with a dual core with 2Gigs of RAM. That is when doing very complicated songs (with 50 tracks and about 75-100 scenes). Sometimes if you freeze the tracks, it worsens the problem. (I've gotten a not enough memory error in the midst of freezing.) However, you could c...

Re: Do I even want a record deal?

If you had been trying for a while to increase exposure but without success, you may want to go forward and sign the contract on an album. You can always make more music, right? If you end up regretting it, it will only be because they have taken a substantial portion of your financial gains (which ...

Re: whats the best sample editor to get?

Sound Forge is fine, but you may be able to get by with Audacity. With Sound Forge used to come CD Editor, Noise Reduction, and some decent Izotope mastering plugs (Dx format)

Whatever it takes to get kids interested in music.
I've played Rock Band with a few other people. It was a hoot.

Re: OT Guitar Rising - Guitar Hero for real guitar

I had a debate with someone recently who said that he would never have his kids learn guitar as their first instrument. That he would make them learn piano or violin because it would force them to learn the theory. I was in total disagreement, but his point was that too many kids learn just guitar r...

Re: Abe's Spectrum Analyzer

Ears are the best. My favorite analyzer is the one that comes with the Fireface 800 that I have. Spend some time with analyzer and watch the height of low end peaks while listening to solid reference songs that you have. You'll get a feel for the pattern you need to be looking at, allowing you to fo...

Re: 8.0.4 Bad RAM management causing 'Serious Program Error'

I did not have this problem in 8.03, but have had it too frequently within 8.03. Seems to happen when I have a number of VST's going, yet there is RAM available. I've had this error message with the use of Melodyne VST, Omnisphere, and other VST's. Interestingly, I have had it happen most often in t...

Re: Negative delay and latency

Right. 10msec would be at the range (except maybe the transients with drums) of not even being able to tell. I was talking more theoretically, since I have recorded at 512 samples. After listening to the recorded track alongside the backing track I wonder if my timing was off with playing or that I ...

Negative delay and latency

Let's say I have some music and need to run at 256 samples. Let's say that means 7 msec input and 7msec output delay.
If I am recording vocals, after I record do I need to adjust the delay by -14msec in order for things to align properly?

Re: midi to guitar tabs

Cubase creates musical notation that you can print-out from MIDI, but this would not be in guitar tabulature form. (It would not show you the phrasing of the chords or frets you should play.)

Re: Is Live 8 safe to use live yet??!

Safe for PC users, but evidently not for Mac users. I use a PC and haven't had problems except for one--not enough memory error--that happens when I am using way too many sampling programs (BFD2, Kontakt 3, instruments within Live)--I'll get the error and a crash. I think this has more to do with th...

Re: lately, i find myself just staring at Live

I think the best thing that you could do would be to pick up a musical instrument. If only the computer is your musical instrument, then learn to play piano or the guitar. You will at least be getting somewhere in your musical development and it will relax you. It will also hopefully stimulate some ...

You can still MIDI map with the FCB 1010. The two work fine together.

Re: How to make the sound stutter ?

How about taking your vocal phrase and dropping it into different drum rack slots? Then you have your start arrow for the sample in those slots put on whatever word or syllable you want to stutter. If you tap the drum pad quickly you get the stutter. When you want the sample to play/loop, you hold d...
