Re: Moving from Session to arrangement

My workflow is this. I have the sketch for how I think the song is going to go. I create a scene (and call it intro). Any clips that are part of the intro I put in there. I then keep doing capture and insert scene (and deleting or adding to that next scene as needed). Doing things like unlinking the...

Re: Advice on VST Sound Editor

That is a fine recommendation (and free), but it is not a VST.
I don't know of any sound editors that are VST's.
I do editing in Sound Forge, even though I don't really use it that much.

What do you all think of Live's multiband compressor? Anybody using it?

Re: How to use Ableton Live 7 as Drum Machine with keyboard?

Very nice summary.
I strongly recommend that you check out this article. It explains in much greater detail what Darth Fader is summarizing.

Re: Sonalksis 70% off on their multilimit multiband limiter

OK. I should tell you again that I have worked with multiband in the past. I don't need to use them, since I can manage with proper equalization and compression of tracks. No specific, practical application, then, that you can specifically mention, beyond just repeating the obvious. ... de-essing/m...

glitchy cutup vocals the phat way: 1. take the whole vocal take, and load it into sampler. set a ton of different zones with different cue points. try to be as random as possible, like halfway through a word or whatever. keep little clusters where the cue points are close (like different words in a...

Re: Akai APC40 Live plug-in mapping

I'm able to make custom maps with the the Novation Remote 25SL, although not with the Ableton plug-ins.
I figured that instrument rack thing out by watching a Modulate
This video. They need a print-out of the baseline parameters, you know? A PDF?

Akai APC40 Live plug-in mapping

I think I've got an understanding of what the Akai can do, barring one area--plug-ins. I see that there is a lesson on the controller which lists the default mapping of parameters for some of live's plug-ins. They list the mappings of the first 8 parameters and 2nd 8 parameters. However, you cannot ...

Re: Sonalksis 70% off on their multilimit multiband limiter

I Voxengo Soniformer and hardly ever use it. I hardly ever use Multi-band compressors either (although I'm tempted to use Live's new one). I use equalizers, compressors (on tracks), and limiters on the mix. Please explain to me instances where you would want to use a multiband limiter. Thanks. ummm...

Suite with B/W splash screen.
To those with color splash screens (and Suite), are you downloading the update via Live 8 (in Help)?

Re: How to use Ableton Live 7 as Drum Machine with keyboard?

You could also double clip on a clip spot to create a clip in session view. Then you go down to clip view and make it as long as you want. Then you can MIDI map the recording, stop and play of that clip. You're going to need some time learning the program, since this is pretty basic stuff. You can a...

Re: How to use Ableton Live 7 as Drum Machine with keyboard?

I don't get the question. Load your drum sounds into Drum Racks. Each Drum rack corresponds to a MIDI note on your keyboard. That's it. Very easy. Toggle overdub when wanting to practice/add drum while things are looping. I'd recommend a pad (Korg or Akai MPD24)--since it makes things much easier.
