Only Two Gripes!

Just 2 things left now;

1: cd audio import (offline function)

2: allow dragging of clips (midi or audio) from within the project into a blank area to create a new track! REALLY ANNOYING, there's no reason it can't if it can already do it by dragging from the browser!

thanks again buckman!

as for your loops, if they're cut well, then live should just get it right straight away. I've never had that problem ever, its got everything I've thrown at it so far.

Are they in acid format or something weird?

Is your Ableton a propper version?

assuming you already have virus loaded on a midi track,

just create a new audio track,

bring up the in/out bit, and set its input to whatever the track with virus is called.

now in the sub menu below that you should be able to select which virus output you want to use.

set its monitor status to ...

Working in a music shop, we get the least problems from m-audio gear, and rme are totally solid if you can afford their stuff.

cardbus (pcmcia) is your lowest latency option, follwed by firewire, then usb as a last resort.

latency is directly related to your soundcard drivers, and sometimes how quick your pc is.

do you have a 'propper' soundcard? i.e. not the one thats already in the machine.

Also alot of soundblaster cards have very poor peformance despite what they say on the box.

If you do have a propper card ...

have you tried creating another audio track and routing the virus's second outputs to that?

I dont think virus plays all its parts out of the same output=track.

make sure you set the new track to monitor 'in' not 'auto'

Thanks Buckman!

Live makes it really easy to do the reverse reverb trick, you just record the reverb'd track back into a new audio track using the i/o routing (though don't think it lets you in the demo). Then apply reverse to that sample and line it up, making sure to chop off the 'dry' signal at ...

Yo!

Try this: The memory man is just a chorus pedal set to fully wet (no dry signal), you can do this with live's chorus! also turn off the second delay line so your just left with the one pitch modulated signal!

Create new track, when drag to empty space

Is it only me that finds this annoying?!

please ableton, could live create a new track when you drop a clip into empty space (from within the same project)? It already does it with clips from the browser!

seems like such a silly omission!

Hear midi notes in editor

Would be nice to hear the notes as you draw them in on the editor.

Bit of a pain having to hold alt (win) whist playing the on screen piano notes. (found this by experimenting, couldn't actually see it in the manual)

Automatically create tracks...

have you noticed that live creates new tracks when you drag audio/midi into a blank space.... but only from the browser window! Not when you drag a clip thats from already in the project :-(

looks like a small oversight to me.

hope you can squeeze it in for live 5 chaps!

sorry i should of mentioned that m-audio have a 'domestic' range like the surround sound sonica theatre. so avoid these too, as they don't have any asio drivers.

if you go to m-audio.com, anything from the professional range should be great. £69 upwards.

what problem did you have, and what card ...
