I've set all my receive MIDI switches OFF. It didn'thelp.
As far as VST plugins - I don't know what do you mean. As I understand installing VST plugin will just give me another sounds but not the original ones from Roland keyboard (?)

Is notebook enough ?
I just started playing with LIVE4. Seems like I have many problems with performance (data transfer, latency, sounds routed from REASON distorted and garbled). My main idea using LIVE4 is:
1. Prerecord parts/sequences, samples on my FANTOM-S
2. Rerecord them (as MIDI) into LIVE4 on my notebook

Connected Roland FANTOM-S to my notebook though MIDI->USB
