Dubstep was originally 135-140bpm. It was born from 2-step/garage a few years back and sort of splintered from grime. It depends what type of dubstep he's writing as to which producers i'd recommend. The halfstep sound (70bpm) has been pretty big for a while, and for me has gone a bit stale, but the...

Thanks rhythinmind, that helps a little. What i'm after is something that is relatively easy on the CPU for playback. These files will only be used within Live for cutting sound to, so they're just a reference and quality is not an issue as long as you can see what's going on. Installing Quicktime 7...

As in the SAE audio college? Nope, I don't teach there. I work at one of the government run technical colleges here. Just as part of a design course that happens to include film/theatre and therefore sound. Edit: Although if there are any SAE department heads watching - feel free to get in touch, my...

Any Quicktime/MOV gurus out there?

I teach Ableton at a college where post production film sound is part of the course. I'm trying to figure out what the best settings are for encoding MOV files to give to the students. I'm converting the files with AVS Video Converter and I have options for a few different video formats: H.264, H.26...

I think the setting you're after is in the Global tab. Increase the Vel/Vol figure. Sorry, i'm not infront of my Live machine, so I can't give exact directions.

And you should be able to copy samples with the Zone tab, no problem. Ctrl+click and drag to make a copy.

From my experience with theatre gigs, I have to agree with buzzcock - keep it simple. Perhaps you could use foldbacks alone for the band to try and avoid feedback and swan around with your hands in the air saying "oh, it was a design choice!". 100 people isn't a massive audience and sound ...

Live 6 and Augur

This one sounds like a plug in issue, as opposed to a problem with Live, but thought i'd see if anyone else can confirm that for me here... When opening the waveform selection window under one of the Oscillators in Augur, I am consistently crashing Live 6. However, this only happens when I am moving...

Right you are. It's only the Pitch, Filter and Modulation that you can't edit seperately.

Perhaps it's on the Axiom end of things then. Did you have any luck resetting to factory defaults?

Is Live responding to the other keys at all? When you press any, the square in the top right of the window should light up green, regardless of whether you're getting sound output or not. Check which preset you have your Axiom on also. It comes shipped with a range of them, and it's possible that so...
