Probably not much help but...

I run Live 4.1 (yeah, never upgraded) on Vista64, and performance/stability are also incredibly poor. Cubase SX3.1 has no issues even though that's a pure 32-bit app too. I have an RME Hammerfall / MultiFace combo and that soundcard works brilliantly in Vista64, so it's not the drivers.

I had a Godin LGX-SA for a while, with the "good" Piezo-based midi bridge. It sucked (tracking, velocity, usefulness of the MIDI out). You're better off learning to play keyboards.

That's pretty much what I've been doing with Impulse so far - not that I've had a huge amount of time with it. It's stuff like muting and legato that I'm missing - am I using it wrong (can I get Impulse to respond to note off messages?)

Sound-quality wise I have tin ears anyway (again, guitarist ;) ), so I probably wouldn't notice any difference much. I can import .WAV files into NN-XT right?

I've got the DS404 sampler, and it's interface is (to put it mildly) practically unusable - but I haven't found anything better (free) on KVR-VST either, so I'm looking into actual boxed solutions.

Something more advanced than Impulse...

Hey guys,
I'm a recent convert to Ableton Live!, enjoying the living daylights out of its quirky features, and now getting into sampling (I'm a guitarist, this stuff is scary!).
Anyway, the Impulse is fun, but it's obviously mostly for drums and very limited, so I'm looking for something more ...
