Re: Lessons learned from researching Audio Interfaces

If you want really low latency for live use - you need to go up to 96K and have a beefy CPU. In which case I suggest pretty much anything recent from RME as an interface.

Re: Live 32-bit to be discontinued

Seems like a good way to let the 32-bit users know that they need to get with the times if they want to upgrade to 10... Head off the inevitable "I've been using Ableton since 1972 and it worked just fine at 32-bit, I quit Ableton!" type comments. I'm sure '72 was still the 4004 days so t...

Re: Live 32-bit to be discontinued

Makes sense - Ive long abandoned 32 bit only plugins and only install 64 live now. TBH - I was actually a little surprised that Windows 10 had a 32 bit version. I believe Apple are dropping 32 bit apps from next year and High Sierra will be their last 32 bit OS. I wouldnt be surprised if the next Wi...

Re: Music streaming services

Yes - been to both places quite a bit for work (Used to work for a large company based in Seatle, though I worked in the UK) and been to Miami, Orlando and Daytona quite a bit (Not sure Avis were impressed with my abusing the hire car on Daytona beach, but whatever - nothing wrong with it - just cov...

Re: Building New PC--Should I Wait for Coffee Lake?

Hmm - extra 2 cores? Might be worth waiting for if thats an extra couple of cores for the same price. Of course it might be that you can the fastest 4 core kaby i7 for the price of a medium speed coffee 6 core in which case perhpas get a kaby lake. My obvious practical concern would be having to dea...

Re: Proudly collecting music gear and software for no purpose

In the documentary "I Dream of Wires", one interviewee commented that there are a lot of folks buying modular only to collect them and have no interest or talent in creating music. The upside to this is that there is an exploding market for modules, spawning all sorts of "boutique&qu...

Re: Music streaming services

Yes - it kind of makes it impossible to zombie out on the couch with a bottle of something listening to deep or soulful house when you get blasted by an ad every few mins and have to dive for the volume control... Ive just paid a month sub on di to try it out - I like that I can get keyed 320k strea...

Re: Music streaming services

@Antic I think amazon have a decent enough track selection like google play. This issue I have is discovery and good genre specific playlists (its the playlists I find to be awful). If you know exactly what you are after - ie found the track somewhere else and its mainstream enough, then it often ha...

Music streaming services

Which music streaming service has the best understand of genres of dance music, particular sub-genres of house? Any that carry decent DJ sets/playlists? Re: Thinking of ditching my Virus TI

Sure, I just wanted to keep the original synth parts tweakable as I have no plan to rework these projects right now, but I expect I will do so in the future. Ill probably just end up bouncing them and taking some screen shots of the VC patch tabs for each. The irony - all this integration and automa...

Re: Thinking of ditching my Virus TI

Fair enough - yes - I remember the closed beta team - I was in that as well back in the early days. Like I said, I love the sound of the thing, but its a complete pain in the ass - unless you use it stand alone. Even then the latest OS seems to have introduced some crackles even with not particularl...

Re: Thinking of ditching my Virus TI

Thanks Tarekith - I suspected you might have some pointers :) Hows the TI2 working out? I have occasionally looked at Zebra, but never quite enough to take the plunge, I do like their synths though (have ACE and DIVA) :) xbitz - That looks interesting (much more so if he does 64 bit versions of for ...

Thinking of ditching my Virus TI

12 years ago today, the Virus TI was released. 12 years on and people are still suffering the some of issues present on day 1 and I think I have finally had enough of the damn thing. While I still love the sound of it, I cant I feel anything other than frustration and contempt with its buggy VC soft...

Re: Should I buy Massive?

For what you want it for, it a good synth and tends to be my go to for wobblers and complextro bits just because of the way modulation in it works and its fx are fine for the job as well.
