fast HD or slow HD + SSD

Looking at some laptops and on a particular model that I'm considering one option is a 7200 rpm 500 GB hard drive and the other option is a 5400rpm 1 TB hard drive coupled with a 32GB SSD.
Which is better for Live? Will the SSD help me? What usage factors will come into play?

Replacement cable for HD25-1

Where do you buy the replacement wires for Sennheiser HD25-1?
Bonus points if the source is in the States.

Anyone use these really fancy 3rd party replacements?

DJ software Plus Live

I need to combine my Ableton instrument racks with some kind of DJ setup, hopefully something like Serato or Ms. Pinky. I want to mix in a record on a turntable and then have Live sync to the BPM of the playing track so that an instrument rack in Live can sync to it. The purpose is that the LFO's or...

I used it for a while, and it really does have a wonderful and unique sound, but the buginess/quirkiness drove me insane so I sold it.

I posted a thread about this and don't recall getting an answer. Maybe someone will chime in here and an answer. I get the same default 1 audio, 1 midi track in the default start up of Live 7.07 (I think it did this in 7.05 too....). But I am not sure where it is finding this particular template to...

Live 7.0.7 always opens default set

Ever since I upgraded Live from 7.0.5 to 7.0.7, when I open any Live set, I get the default set instead of the one that I opened. I think this is some kind of Windows problem, something to do with file associations maybe? I tried re-installing Live, but now my right-click menu has two entries for Li...

I'm guessing here, but I think you'll find that your aiff files are quiet too. In other words, it's the mastering that you do on your source material that needs work, not a problem with your mp3 conversion which, in my experience, does not affect your levels. I've had good luck using Ozone as a cost...

Re: thinkpad power settings vs. battery powered audio

That should work as your requested secret incantation Great program thanks. Unfortunately, I misdiagnosed the problem, it was really the ASIO4ALL settings. I had to check the "Use hardware buffer" box. Now I can get smooth playback. BUT, there's a fixed latency that doesn't go away even w...

thinkpad power settings vs. battery powered audio

I have a new thinkpad that works great on AC, but won't play audio smoothly on battery. The sound is realllllly bad. The glitches are so bad that there's more silence than sound. As soon as I plug it in, it comes to life and works great. I've gone over all the power settings to make sure nothing is ...

e-phonic drumatic vs. Vista

Live doesn't recognize drumatic on my new Vista (home basic) install.

Here's the home of drumatic:

It's a very valuable free drum synth.[/url]

indigo driver install on vista

what's the trick?

I tried the usual stuff.

I Even let Windows go through it's normal pointless and fruitless search for drivers, picked the manual install and pointed at the directory containing the echo24.inf, but Windows says "no driver".

diskeeper? pc-doctor?

Just cleaning out the crap on my new laptop and I was wondering if these programs are worth keeping.
Any real use for them?
I want to have as little stuff running in the background as possible.

There is a lot of thing that doesn't work with vista yet. I suggest you to wait for the next service pack. Do you mean the SP1 that is forthcoming? What programs/plugins have you had specific trouble with? I only need Ableton, Automap, and my plugins to work. That's it. No AV, no browser, no email,...
