Grado headphones

I was wondering when someone would mention Grado. A number of cans have come my way over the years, but for my money, Grado are the finest. A great site to check out is Vintage Synth Explorer. The first version of the Microwave had analog filters, the subsequent Microwave 2 had digital ones as did the XT. What you gain in polyphony, effects, etc. in the 2 and XT, you lose in a certain uniqueness and richness with analog. But that's why ...

Pismo Powerbook

I've got a 500mhz pismo, 60g drive, 512 ram, firewired to an m-audio 410. It's a sweet setup for me, not much to complain about, especially as I've not used a faster machine. I'm curious to hear about the upgrade if you get it.

Waldorf synths

Don't discount the Waldorf Microwave as an option. I've got the first version w/analog filters and haven't tired of it in fourteen years. It brings out the best in sound design.

Pismos were the high point

Noisetonepause, you are correct. The G3 Pismos were the high point in design. Not only were they the first Powerbooks with firewire (dual 6 pin ports), and the fastest laptops in the world, but they were certainly the sexiest. I'm not parting with mine anytime soon!
