No, that will be absolutely fine. Live can work with multiple bit depths at the same time.

No you’re not missing anything unfortunately, they’re stuck down there.
There is a floating window Max device out there where you can assign anything to a floating window. That might be your best bet.

When you say plug-in, are you meaning Ableton effects or 3rd party VST or AU?

Re: Why doesn't freezing a track eliminate latency?
...freezing the track did not remove the latency - to get rid of the latency, I would also have to flatten the track! This has always bugged me too. My work around’s are both quite clunky. 1. Save the offending track into the user library and then freeze and flatten. You can import back into the se...

I have no experience with those you’ve listed.
Personally I’d recommend either the Focusrite, Native Instruments or Presonus interfaces

You can do a send & return setup all within an instrument rack if you wish using the sidechain comp method. All of my Instrument racks have a self contained send / return setup for each individual song. I can send any chain to the internal return. All the info is here: https://forum.ableton.com/...

Re: Clipping between devices in an instrument rack
I love the Sonlksis Free G for this very reason too, very handy plug-in. I've actually made some preset racks for particular plug-ins with poor or no metering that include the Free G.

watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hazcYwkCP2M especially the part where he start's playing with the 'headroom' knob still bullshit? Yeah that UBK does sound sweet. It has a headroom control which adjusts exactly that, less headroom causes clipping. Does he mention anywhere that the ...

Re: Do you know how to read your meters? -18dBfs theory?
Exactly. That there are devices that react dynamically was the main point I made. Ahh, so that was the point you were trying to make, you simply sounded like someone that had no idea how Saturator worked. Of course you cant assume that a higher or lower volume is better on a plug-in that reacts dyn...

Re: Do you know how to read your meters? -18dBfs theory?
Your results make perfect sense for Saturator. The saturation effect is enhanced by an increasing/decreasing input signal. That is what the drive knob is for, think of it as a Volume knob. Changing the input using a Utility beforehand is going to give you the same effect as changing the drive knob. ...

Re: Do you know how to read your meters? -18dBfs theory?
If you’re using analogue hardware such as EQ, Mixers, Compressors etc with your DAW then -18dbFS is excellent advice, if you aren’t, then I believe it to be a non-issue. As Angstrom said, there is nothing wrong with following this guys advice, it’s actually OK, but people rarely take the time to und...
