Re: Are the changes to Arrangment View in L10 helping you?
Do you mean even with the current changes made to the beta? The return of the arrows made my day. I'm behind on the betas and must have missed something in the releases notes, I guess. I'll check it out tonight; but what do you mean by "arrows" ? The old method had the little "+"...

Re: Are the changes to Arrangment View in L10 helping you?
As a very heavy user of automation, I am deeply pissed that I can no longer view specific automation tracks over-top and/or underneath specific tracks in the 'normal' Arrangement view (e.g. without this new 'toggle' behavior). AFAIC it's a downgrade of behavior and a huge bummer. I vastly prefer the...

Re: Trilian for electric and upright bass?
IMHO, Trilian blows away all the NI content. I have Komplete Ultimate, so I've tested out all the Scarbee stuff. I use Trilian all the time, and I never touch the Scarbee stuff anymore. It's just not as good! Trilian also has more flexibility and depth. But the botton line for me is that it just sou...

Echo - what is Filter Mod actually modulating?
in the Modulation tab, Filter Mod is a simple control -- you just enter an amount.
But Echo has two filters, not one; there's a high-pass and a low-pass.
So what is Filter Mod actually modulating? Just the LP? Just the HP? both?

Re: Article> In Conversation: Quincy Jones
It was a very entertaining interview, that's for sure! The part that resonates with me, re: music, is the part about the Song being more important than anything else, and how many people seem to miss the point. I think this is often especially true in electronic music. So much emphasis on the tools ...

Re: Valhalla Room vs Vintage
My vote is for Room. It's my go-to reverb, the only reverb I ever really need. I also own Vintage Verb. I like it a lot... but I don't actually use it much, because in most cases I prefer to use Room. on a silly (because I can't back it up with real, technical info) / subjective level, Room sounds m...

Re: "Mono Mixing" in a stereo plugin universe...
Those are all good points Tarekith... to clarify a bit though -- The "mono compatibility" thing e.g. the myth of the mono club speakers is sort of a whole other issue, wherein people say "check your mix in Mono" and all that... but I see that as a separate thing, since it's about...

"Mono Mixing" in a stereo plugin universe...
I'd like to discuss, at some great length, the notion that "We should be mixing more with Mono" and what that means to an Ableton user who works mostly In The Box today. I can't tell you how often I come across online articles, youtube videos, forum threads, etc in which the gist of the me...

Re: Are you still using your Live 8 Library with Live 9
Preferences has a setting for locating your Live 8 library on your system; when that's been done (optionally) it shows up in the browser as you've pointed out.
Why this is worth a poll, though, is beyond me.
Use it if you need it.

Re: Save 50% on Presonus and 20% on Ableton products.
On a Mac, 2014 rMBP. Well consider me envious, then. I gave up on the software when their tech support couldn't help me at all with the constant crashes or the CPU spikes. It's possible it was caused by certain mastering plugins, but I've since been able to use the exact same plugins elsewhere (Ado...

Re: Save 50% on Presonus and 20% on Ableton products.
I use Studio One almost every single day for client work, can't even remember the last time it crashed. Actually I can't even remember it crashing even once, great app. Definitely research it a bit more, I think it's probably my favorite DAW after Live. On a Mac or a PC ? Studio One 3 crashed so of...

Re: Save 50% on Presonus and 20% on Ableton products.
anyway £50 to get access to the arrangement scratchpads is probably worth it. Along with that section drawing ("blocks"?) thing. Live really doesn't offer any good arranging tools, and that Presonus Studio 3 Scratchpad feature is pretty damn intuitive. have you actually tried using it? It...

Re: How do I stop ableton from doubling a sample after flatten
You don't, you just keep cropping it. But, as noted above, there are perfectly good reasons for why this behavior exists (flattening of time based effects to preserve tails in the 'intro' portion of the loop, e.g. reverb, delay, etc). Note that if you consolidate the first half and loop it, any time...

Re: Hybrid 3 VST Air Music Techn. causing problems in Live 9.7
The assertion that a synth you aren't using in your sessions is somehow causing your CPU increase is.... highly suspect.
