Issues with external instruments (Moog and Korg)
Hello!
I was wondering if anyone else is having the same issues with external synths that I'm having, but I'm using the external instrument, and a simple Hosa midi USB interface. I can play the Moog Mother 32, and Korg Volca bass with the Push 2, an Oxygen 8, or the qwerty keys on my MacBook Pro ...

Re: Dedicated mixer
Hello! I didn't look at the last date of the last post from this thread, but I've always utilized Ableton (since version 2.5 or 3.something?) as an instrument, but it's grown into soon much more over the years I'd love to give Digidesign, (wait Avid.....) the boot and complete all my final mixes ...

Re: Live 9 Convert To Midi From Audio Is Hopelessly Inaccurate?
Woot! I'm in! Thank you for the replies=D
My 2 cents on the audio to midi is that so far I sang into my laptop from a seated position and it worked like a charm!
I haven't tried a harmony or a beat, but I've always envisioned this as more of a sketching tool vs a permanent approach.
That being said ...

Re: Live 9 Convert To Midi From Audio Is Hopelessly Inaccurate?
I'm checking back at least 3 to 5 times a day for an open spot in the Live 9 Beta with no success.
To view the beta forum do you have to be part of the beta team, or is there a link that can be shared?
I fear it's probably only for the beta testers...., but I'm super eager to upgrade!

Please, Please, Please let me in the beta!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dear Ableton,
I'm only off of work for another two and a half weeks, of which I promise to dedicate 4 to 6 solid hours a day testing the beta!!!
I'll even pay for the new version in advance of it's release!!!! I have live 8 suite and Max4Live.
I check back everyday and it's always full...

Re: Sampler or synth that lets you scroll through waveforms?
Hello!
I'm not sure I follow the issue your having. I took 258 waveforms and merged them into one file. At this point the way I'm using granulator is I set the grain size down to about 7.18 Hz, and ADSR at A= 1.00 ms D=119 ms S= -3.4 db R= 1.00 s.

Re: Sampler or synth that lets you scroll through waveforms?
Hello again!
I just selected a folder I had with 258 waveforms in it, dragged and dropped them into Live's arrange view, and they all lined up back to back. I them consolidated them into 1 big audio file that I loaded into Monolake's Granulator and it's exactly what I wanted:D I can play notes and ...

Re: Is there ever a reason to use a hardware mixer?
I use a passive mixer I put together called the Summthing. If your handy with a soldering iron you may be able to find boards for the project around. Otherwise it's the same as New York Dave's schematic for a passive mixer. Rolls makes a commercial one you can buy. I also have an 8 channel S800 EQ ...

Re: Is there ever a reason to use a hardware mixer?
Hello!
This is such a subjective question it's been debated countless times. Myself, I have outboard gear I use during mixing, and a 16 channel passive summing mixer that I use 2 API style mic pres for makeup gain and there is a huge difference in the final mix. It all really comes down to your ...

Sampler or synth that lets you scroll through waveforms?
Hello,
I bought AfroDjMac's Juno 106 pack and love it. He did a really great job. He has a macro mapped out to sample select which got me thinking, what if I could map out 127 different waveforms and map them similarly in the sampler. The only issue I'm running into is that I'd like to be able to ...

Re: Studio One is leaving Ableton in the dust.
Hello!
To me it's all about what you started out on. Cubase, Emagic "Logic Audio", Pro Tools, Motu, etc..., so for me I started on Pro Tools, and it's the closest to a straightforward DAW that works, and works well. If you stuck John Lennon in a room with an SM57, and an old Tascam Portastudio ...

Re: Studio One is leaving Ableton in the dust.
This post is comical, as Pro Tools blows the poo poo out of Studio One for your basic "band" tracking and editing, and also, Ableton is a completely different performance based tool. Hey! Let's do a live set with Studio One! sure you could with mute buttons.........I once saw it done with a mixer an ...
