I'm not a Reaktor nor a MAX freak. I'm probably not going to build a lot of stuff from scratch. I just try to find out which of both programs are the easiest to start with without having to go through a very steep learning curve.

After waiting for many months I upgraded from live 7 to Live 8 suite October 30rd. Yesterday I mailed Ableton about my disappointment missing the 20% reduction. Today I received a coupon worth 50 euro/dollar. Very good service from Ableton. One happy user here!

I use FL Studio 8 XXL. The piano roll is indeed very easy. You can quickly set up your ideas. You can arpeggiate, strum, flam, chop the notes with a few mouse clicks. Piano roll is indeed easier to use than Live midi pane. For the rest the workflow is must more logical in Live than in FL studio.
