Re: [video tutorials] - Sound Design with Operator now available

^ nice review...stated some positives, and didn't pull any punches, which only helps both your and Nick's credibility. Thanks for that. Just speaking my mind. 1) I used the phrase "basic sine wave" to distinguish it from more complex waveforms in the context of the basics of FM and timbre...

Re: [video tutorials] - Sound Design with Operator now available

I've watched most of the vids and they are very good. As usual Nick speaks very clearly, at a nice pace and even people who are not too good in english should understand most of the tutorials (provided they have the vocabulary). In order to save bandwidth and disk space, only the relevant parts of t...

Re: OT, But Native Instruments Site Crashing?

Yes it happens to me as well. The culprit is the flash player, which has always sucked on os x and seems to be even less stable with the latest upgrades of os x/safari (or something). You may still access the NI support pages if you deactivate plugins (since flash isn't that necessary there). No luc...

Re: The big wide world of modular audio synthesis environments

I think that even if you don't end up patching a lot (although patching is tons of fun), you'll learn a thing or two about DSP and signal path which will help to get a better understanding of other softsynths/samplers/effects. If you choose to get puredata, you should get Miller Puckette's book (it'...

Re: France passes the "three strikes" law against i-pirates

first off: it got shot down didn't it? For now, the government will submit the law for a new vote at the end of the month. But many doubt this will be possible to do before May, and in that case it will probably be postponed because the elections for the european parliament are coming, and the majo...

Re: France passes the "three strikes" law against i-pirates

well, the thing is i'm no lawyer and i think i can't judge is a law is good or not. i let people who know this stuff do it for me. namely in france: SACEM regarding copyrights, and CNIL regarding privacy and internet abuse. SACEM was supporting this law, and i didn't hear CNIL complain about it, wh...

Re: France passes the "three strikes" law against i-pirates

i mean a start to make people realize they won't download stuff for free for ever and ever. i'm sure most people would stop downloading stuff after receiving the first email warning (that's already the case in other countries who adopted it). then the hardcore guys would probably keep on doing it o...

Re: France passes the "three strikes" law against i-pirates

I didn't here a lot about it in Paris either; I think people view it as something doomed to failure anyway... To be fair this law was introduced last year, and that was the end of the legislative process, and everybody thought it was a done deal. That's why it didn't attract that much attention. wh...

Thanks to the somewhat cynical opposition, the law has been rejected. This is good news.

No mater what i say your name is Geezus so I'm saved and defeated all at once. However, 27 years of saxing, singing qualify me to hear the way I hear. I appreciate your candor and hope to admire your preprograming skills - BUT show me ! I'm not a programmer (too), I'm just a musician, a performing ...

Re: What is This Plug-in?

I think he means the stuff at the end of the video (not the mannually done stuff, but the pseudo random cutter). That is Ableton Live. No, it's not, the guy clearly states that his buddy uses a (vaguely defined) granulator plugin. And, I in turn, clearly stated "not the manually done stuff&quo...

I think he means the stuff at the end of the video (not the mannually done stuff, but the pseudo random cutter). If that's what you're after you should take a look at mdsp's Livecut : http://mdsp.smartelectronix.com/2005/07/livecut.php and maybe Bram's SuppaTrigga http://bram.smartelectronix.com/plu...

Re: Disappointed...

The video has not changed since the initial announcement. And you don't have to pay for fx (the new limiter and so on). But Corpus gets its juice from the Collision instrument, it's sort of a goodie you get for buying collision. As for the link you've posted, you should've noticed that on the second...
