Re: MASCHINE VS. MPD32....im leaning AKAI
The main thing I hate about Maschine, and other NI products for that matter, is the clunky way zooming is implemented. Compared to Ableton's method, it's a fucking nightmare. + a zillion...its ridiculous!!! I know, right? It's been like that forever. It's really the only problem I have with their G...

Re: MASCHINE VS. MPD32....im leaning AKAI
Makes sense. As far is it not being intuitive, I'm tempted to suggest giving it some more time. I was surprised at how long it took me to start keeping my hand off the mouse while using Maschine. I still reach for it more than I'd like out of habit, but, with the exception of selecting individual no...

Re: MASCHINE VS. MPD32....im leaning AKAI
I've had Maschine since it came out and it took a while before the workflow clicked for me, having written mostly in Live for the preceding 8 years, often with no controller. If you're working primarily with Ableton's drumracks, which are great, I can see how Maschine might seem redundant, but Masch...

Re: Instant Haus and Maschine
Trial and error. I'm doubtful that someone is going to list all the steps to recreate this, but roughly, figure out how to drive Maschine w/ Instant Haus. Then, map some Max LFO's to the sequencer parameters. That's about all that's happening.

Re: 16gig of Ram and the same CPU problems?
Common mistake, but I'd say move on with the knowledge that you won't be running into any problems due to lack of RAM. The gains are going to be more subtle, but you won't be sorry that you have it, particularly if you want to run more than one application at a time. Rewiring another application to ...

Re: Get rid of video in Live
Absurd idea for a thread, but I'll bite. I'd never loaded a Quicktime file into Live until last month when someone hired me to make a soundtrack for their short film. Dragged the video into arrangement view and then matched certain events in the music and assorted field recordings quickly and precis...

Re: New Maschine MKII revealed! - Full pics and details
My thoughts exactly. I've been using one since it came out, and now I'm wondering how long it will be before they kill it off. Can't tell if this bid for wider appeal with the pretty colors and bling is good because it will broaden the user base and maybe keep the product alive longer. Or if this is...

Re: Machine Drum or Tempest...or ???
Absolutely. Being very selective about where the swing is applied really brings MD patterns to life. A fun and usable sequencer. Still, there is something to be said for having extremely granular control over placement. I've been using a Cirklon a bit this year to trigger Battery kits among other th...

Re: Machine Drum or Tempest...or ???
Yes. With the next OS update, very much so. From the Dave Smith site: The sequencer has a resolution of 96 ppqn (parts per quarter note) but always uses quantize during real time recording, with quantize rates from 8th notes to 32nd triplets. In the next software update, a "Time Shift" par...

Re: Machine Drum or Tempest...or ???
The responses so far have focused a lot on usability, and rightly so, but there's the not insignificant issue of sound quality. It should be noted that while the synthesizer part of the MDUW is flexible and can be used to create a wide range of interesting and usable sounds very quickly, it has a ve...

Re: Damian and...........Skrillex? hell yeah
this is like grandma railing against that 'new fangled rock n roll' devil music, get a grip My grip is just fine, thanks. I was pointing out the irony of the fact that most of what people call dubstep, present or some past, has little to do with dub or bass. So much of it anymore is about ear-split...

Fair enough. I'm just asking why these dudes feel the need to take up a third of my screen for a link.

Re: Damian and...........Skrillex? hell yeah
Looking back a few years for a moment, here's that great white label from Matty G w/ Bob Marley and w/ Max Romeo and Prince Jazzbo on the flip. Notice the absence of shrill-ass, mid-range horseshit. The current crop of dubstep kiddies seem not to have cottoned onto the fact that the rhythym and the ...

Re: Launchpad - Change the size of the scrollable grid
Completely off topic, but what possesses you guys to blast the forum with those massive banner ad image signatures? In 15 years or so online, I don't remember ever clicking on one here or anywhere else. In fact, the bigger it is, the less likely I am to care. Anyway, there's my unsolicited 2 cents a...

Re: Blofeld or Mopho
Did you know that Waldorf is releasing the Pulse 2 analog monosynth this summer? That will compete more directly with the Mopho than the Blofeld.
