Re: Audio recording external effects and harware [CONFUSED]

i usually create a blank audio track, audio from the external instrument, monitor set to OFF, armed. This way you record audio onto this track, while keeping the ext inst track fully "functional".
hope it helps
cheers

Re: APC40 + APC20... independent mapping issue

..i forgot to mention that using this workaround the device you are rerouting inside midipipe will probably no longer work as a "out-of-the-box" device for controlling live, but as a generic midi controller (that is, live expects the apc's to work on mid chan 1).

Re: APC40 + APC20... independent mapping issue

I don't know exactly as i don't have both so i can't try this properly...but i guess that with something like midipipe (i'm on a Mac) - i can't remember the name of its windows brother - you can try to "intercept" the signal from one of the 2 devices, let's say the apc20 now, then tell the...

Re: Probably with chain selector

er...yes but i still think you should leave the orange bar not on 0 but on 127 - or, again, 100 as i said. The reason for 100 is simple: since the envelope select the chain number corresponding to a fraction of the orange bar value, if this last one is at 0 then there is no change for all the values...

Re: Probably with chain selector

Forgot to mention that the little green dot you were asking about represents the point in the chain selector actually automated by the envelope!while the orange one the absolute level of the selector--pretty much obviously.
hope it helped..

Re: Probably with chain selector

That is because (most of) the envelopes within clips in session view work in a "relative" fashion. That is, you put (logically before) the chain selector at a certain level, and then specify the percentage of that level that the automation actually selects. I don't find it very handy, it w...

Re: Solo & Mute Button Behaviour Via MIDI Controllers

Yes it's a common issue :P i don't know specifically for the mpk mini as i don't have one, but basically you have to set the buttons to toggle mode AND change their range: while for mute buttons and usual toggle operation the button range is MIN:127 MAX:0 , if i remember correctly for the solo butto...

Re: Send MIDI from a drum rack to 3 other drum racks...LOST

If i understand correctly, there is no need to have more than one DR to do this. 2 solutions come into mind: the first-and best IMO-is to have just one DR with all the sounds, and 4 midi tracks sending midi to that DR track. These midi tracks should contain a midi effect rack each, where using the k...

Re: Dynamically change "MIDI To"

i do this in a manner similar to the one explained by JuanSolo, although i use just one template of the keyboard-that is midi is sent on one and only one channel. So i have: a "midiIN" track which receives midi from the keyb on say channel 1, monitor set to IN, and midi out to "no out...

Re: Hardware synth & Ableton question

What do you mean by "quantising the melody"? from what you say, looks like you are recording the audio input of your melody into live, while quantization comes in at the midi level.. that said, what i do is record the keyboard line as a midi clip before: this way, if some adjustments to si...

Re: Record arm causing audio clicks/pops: anyone else have this?

always happens to me too.. the workaround i find is to have the arm buttons for tracks you need to record ALWAYS turned on (which drains a bit more of CPU obviously) BUT to route signals dynamically to them from other tracks.. for example: let's say i have 3 vst synths; 1 midi keyboard input. If i a...

Re: How to use a track as side chain while keeping it in the mix

or -instead of using a return track (which are limited in number for every set) - you can just use a new empty audio track with Audio In:track1 Audio Out: track2 monitor set to IN mute button set to OFF basically its the same thing, but you save return tracks - and you don't have to duplicate the tr...

Re: Mapping Devices Problem! HELP!

My hint would be: (step by step so i don't miss things) 1) create audio effect rack 2) create 2 chains in it: one "dry" one "wet" 3) put the effect you want in the 2nd one (obvious i know!) 4) highlight the chain selector and set the chains as follows: dry chain: big blue line 0-...
