For the hardware user, be able to well control the synth through midi installation is a really pleasure. It's part of the integrity we are looking for by doing music!
I am totaly aware to help ableton team in such a capability to be developed!

Live5 is not available to manage easily hardware synth.

Program change
To change a patch sound of an hardware synth from a software sequencer, you have to use program change.
Live5 can send (and receive) program changes, with the 'bank', 'sub bank' and 'prg' fields of a MIDI clip.

And you create a clip for each patch of your synth bank list? a little bit complicated!!!!!! no???

Is someone has created all the clips for the bank patch of:
- Korg MS2000R
- Novation drumstation
- Roland R5

a bank patch editor is just the capability to link a patch name to both prg and bank ...

I am looking for a functionality to control from Live 5 my external synths banks. As it exist in other midi sequencer (i.e. cubase), we can register in the parameters the hardware synth we've got to be able to control the bank changes from the software.

You're found one of the big problem of LIVE4! It doesn't manage program change! no as cubase done for exemple!
You can send your MIDI message to your external MIDI output and pilot your hardware machines, but I don't found how manage program change!

I am agree with you that midi was appear with the release 4 and I think it's the real addon of the product! Oh Nooooo! this is a real bad new for all the "real" midi users!!! and I really don't understand why an easy management of txt script file has not been developped for that (it's just to affect relation between prg/bank and xt title!!!). the worth is that is done for VSTi!!!!
