I see this post is a week old but in case you're still considering Berklee I can give you my experience. I've taken 5 or 6 online courses at Berklee and I've gained a HUGE amount of knowledge and improved my skills across the board. Now I haven't taken any of the production classes so I can't speak ...

I was torn between the X-Station and Ozonic and ended up going for the X-Station and I have to agree that the build quality of the X-Station is far superior to the Ozonic. The keys are semi-weighted so they feel great and the aftertouch and X/Y pad are amazing. Plus the built-in synth is SO nice to ...

Great! I'm glad you were able to get it working. Regarding the templates, I used the included Live 2 template as a starting point to create my own Live 4 template. It's definitely a good idea to tweak it to fit your own workflow since I didn't like some of their mappings. It makes a HUGE difference ...

Yes, memory-protect is what I'm referring to. That needs to be turned off otherwise nothing can be written to the X-Station. Try that and see what happens. You would think that if you failed to turn it off you would have received an error indicating that this was the problem but you never know! Dogen

That is strange. I didn't have any problems using the editor to update the OS. Did you disable write-protect on the X-Station? That's the only thing I can think of. As far as Novation support, I had a couple of issues when I first purchased mine and they responded within a day and got back to me rig...

Whoooo......details, details. How'd you manage this? I thought you can only record the hardware synth as audio, not as MIDI. Please be specific about the setup. Strictly speaking that is still true. Here's what I did: 1. Create a new MIDI clip and fill it with MIDI note data. You can either play a ...

The latency was not noticable at all. I threw in a couple of drum loops and then recorded three MIDI clips to X-Station synth to audio clips and everything was totally tight. The other great thing about the X-Station is that the keys are semi-weighted and it also has a nicely implemented aftertouch ...

Thanks for the suggestion AdamJay. I tried it out last night and it worked flawlessly. I was able to program a MIDI clip and send it out through the X-Station and then record the audio signal from the X-Station into an audio clip while tweaking parameters in realtime. Very nice!

AdamJay: I'll let you know how it works. The only potential problem I can see is that when you're in synth mode, you can't use the controller aspect of the X-Station. However, you could always use your MIDI clip in Live to play the synth and then just record that signal into a new audio clip therefo...

Hmm, that's a good question. I'm not sure if would work but as long as the X-Station can recieve a MIDI in signal you would think it would. Very interesting idea, I'll give it a try tonight and see what happens. I've actually really enjoyed using the synth mode as a quick way of laying down a synth ...

I've owned the X-Station for awhile now and my experience with latency in Live has been very good. I haven't had any issues when recording the built-in KS synth directly into Live. I usually run at 6ms/17ms latency because I need to bring the buffer down in order for my Powercore plugs to work witho...

I just purchased Live 4 a short time ago and I must say that if I had known P5 v2 would be like this, I would have waited to try both apps before buying. Don't get me wrong, I REALLY love Live. It's completely changed my workflow for the better but it's far from perfect and has quite a few limitatio...

I have a P4 2.4 as well and I don't have nearly the CPU usage you're talking about. I'm a fairly new user of Live so my experiences with the program are limited. However, I've been working on a project with five to six VSTi's, 10-12 audio clips and a good number of send effects and clip envelopes an...
