Please, any ideas on how to recreate those nice heavy stabby electro sounds circa mid to late 80s, usually heavily modulated/pitch bent, probably a doddle but not to me I know it may be a dx7, any patches or how to emulate much appreciated?

Anybody had much joy with any apps out there? I've tried a few demos but they still leave a fair bit to the ears and my pitching is crap!

Its for some parts of tunes I'd like to rework eg. pilfering a bassline without the drums or rythm guitar...
