I am using a desktop -

AMD 63 3400+ (754)
Abit KV8MAX (RealTek AC97 audio, have 1394 ports aswell as an extra USB/1394 pci card)
9800XT
512MB PC3700 (looking at getting another 512 very soon)
A few HDD's, mainly working off a WD 10000rpm Raptor.

I did have a look into the FW410, but I heard some concerning reports.

I don't want to spend too much money at this stage, so is there something similar that is within a reasonable price range? I only ask because I don't want to end up buying a piece of junk...

I'll cut to the chase - I am just starting out. I want to play around with both mixing and production in Ableton Live 4.
