I've had this same problem on my dell xps notebook and my new MacBook. If I'm not mistaken you're referring to the glitch that happens when you start a new clip. For example you've preloaded 12 tracks in a pre-set als file and you load them all on startup. Then about 40 minutes or more into your set ...

- XP fully twaeked for audio
- harddisk 80%^ empty and defragmented

Yeah you can set the nudge to 1/32 or off to use it as nudge for beatmatching. I don't care how well your songs are warped they are still sometimes off depending on the attack of the kick drums etc...

If you built a MIDI controller you could use a 100mm slide pot just like a turntable pitch control...you can set the pot function to relative mode and set the min and max values (you can do the with the midibox mios), therefore the whole range of motion of the 100mm fader would be +/- 3bpm or ...
