Re: anyone using ableton as a live on stage mic mixer?

I have ben thinking of doing similar for a while but haven't had the bottle to do it at a gig  My concern is if the computer either crashes or worst still wont boot when you arrive to a gig you have no mixing board and therefore can't play anything.

At present we use a Spirit digital 328 ...

Re: Re-naming "USB Audio Device" in Win XP

I think the issue is with XP rather than Live. Vista, Win 7 and OSX displays the device name assigned by manufacture.

I wonder if there is a way to edit the names in Win XP somewhere? Is there an .ini file which defines the name of the "USB Audio Device" objects?

Re-naming "USB Audio Device" in Win XP

I have a couple of devices attached which show us as "USB Audio Device". Is it possible to rename these as see "USB Audio Device(1)" and "USB Audio Device(2)" doesnt make routing easy.

Thanks

Re: Switching instruments using MIDI-controller

I use Live with my band pretty much the same as the OP as a front end for hosting VSTs and connecting to external sound modules.

I have a Live set with 14 tracks each loaded with either a VST or routed to an external sound module. Each track is assigned an individual midi channel (1-14). I then use ...

Re: loading multiple live projects

I use live with my band in the main as an interface to run VSTs. I have a midi channel for each VST setup like this: -

Track 1 - Channel 1 - Roland JV2080 Channel 1 out
Track 2 - Channel 2 - Roland JV2080 Channel 2 out
Track 3 - Channel 3 - Roland JV2080 Channel 3 out
Track 4 - Channel 4 - NI B4 ...

Re: Using Ableton Live with a band playing live

yeah I have experimented with the tap and the tempo changes as per the post above :(

I know click track is an option but was hoping there would be something easier/better. Maybe its time to have a word with the drummer lol

Using Ableton Live with a band playing live

I play in a band with a guitarist, drummer, bassist and singer and would like to use more of Live's features at our gigs such as triggering loops etc. However how do I keep loops in time with the rest of the band?

What do you all do?

Sending Midi Out from a Virtual Instrument in Live

I have recently bought a Behringer BCR2000 and connect this to my laptop using midi. When running NI B4 II in standalone mode I can both send data to and receive data from the laptop (i.e. I can tweak a knob and the B4 parameter updates, and when I change patch on the B4 the knob values update ...

Live 6 - Scenes/Snapshots

I use live on a laptop for stage use mainly as a host for a number of virtual instruments and plugins (NI B4, Akoustik Piano, Atmosphere, Halion etc). At present I have all the instruments loaded and assigned to individual midi channels. I then use patches on my two controllers to play the ...
