Re: link to forums
Honestly, I thought the forums had been taken down since my bookmark didn't work and there was no link via the main page. The only reason I chose to even bother searching is that it was mentioned in another forum that there were active conversations about upgrade pricing going on in here. Leaving th...

Re: Virus ti users
Also depends on the sound you're trying to make. I use unison all the time but mainly on stabs, pads, effects, but never on basses. There are several things you can try depending on your sound, situation, etc. First, read up on the HASS EFFECT. Things you can try for wide stereo: Delay ONLY one side...

Re: Achieving mono compatable mixes? mastering and mix down
its bugging me more and more these days when i check my mixes in mono and elements lose their power or sheen that i have worked to achieve. the main issue on something im working on at the moment are my synths.i ve used 6 instances of sylenth to create supersawish anthemic melody using harmonies no...

Re: Anyone bite on steven slate vcc?
I have it and am completely unable to use the channel. The bus works fine not the channel instantly crashes Live on Windows 7. If you haven't made a support ticket yet I'd definitely get one started. Slate is pretty responsive from my experience. Actually, I'm still using the beta due to the bugs r...

Re: Anyone bite on steven slate vcc?
Yup. Own it. Love it. Got in on the beta when it was available and netted myself a free iLok2. Love the Brit 4k for clarity, USA for vox/guitars (adds a certain "hardness"), Brit N on kick or bass, and the Trident on anything heavy. I had a Neve 8816 Summing Mixer for a while and the Brit ...

Re: FREE Soundtoys License for new plugin "Devil-Loc"
Really cool fee plug for anyone with an iLok wanting to grab it. Works great in parallel on a drum bus as well as adding a nice bit of grunge on synths. Love the Soundtoys stuff and don't see the big deal about using iLok. I'd chain a dead puppy off my machine if needed to be able to use their stuff...

Re: MIXING BASICS
Mixing is all about balance. EQ is merely a tool to help if necessary. In regards to your question on mixing while creating the thing you want to focus on is your arrangement and how it serves your song. While you'll need to adjust faders here and there for playback, a good arrangement will almost m...

Re: Favorite Waves plugins you couldn't do without?
L1/L2. The L1 almost always finds it's way onto a vocal track. CLA compressors, SSL, API, Maxxbass, R Vox, C4. Also like to use just a splash of Enigma or Mondo Mod on certain tracks just to give them a bit of movement. Also really digging H-Delay lately.

Re: Compression on a reverb send?
There really isn't a rule to this. The main question is how does it sound within the context of your desired result? I'll typically compress drum room reverbs (compression after effect) to make them slightly more explosive if that's the sound I'm after. I'll also make certain that I send plenty of l...

SSL E Channel, API 550a 550b and 2500, CLA 3A and 1176, L1, PuigTec EQP 1a and MEQ 5, Q Clone, H Delay. Working on a some indie rock type mixes for a band at the moment and those seem to be my go to Waves plugs at the moment.

Re: Summing mixer
I'm currently using a Neve 8816 and recommend it highly. If I didn't have the Neve I'd probably grab the D Box as it's a great product at a great price. If you've got the budget, the Shadow Hills Equinox is a serious contender.
