Re: New Apple machine with 8th Gen i7 (Mac mini) running badly
Interesting. I do wonder if my issues stem from a second screen on a USB C port. I’d rather not have to shell out for a mostly pointless egpu for audio though. Then give it a try w/o second monitor. A guy from Ableton support also gave me a hint to try different screen resolutions. That also helped...

Re: New Apple machine with 8th Gen i7 (Mac mini) running badly
Update from my side: I'm using an eGPU now with monitor attached to the external unit. Problems gone completely.

Re: New Apple machine with 8th Gen i7 (Mac mini) running badly
But I'm a bit unsure, because I read various positive reviews about the `18 mini w/ Ableton. Meanwhile I found that the combination of FabFilter plugins and Ableton causes the most CPU troubles on my system. Every instance of FF-R (or some other FF) causes about 10% to 20% CPU usage. This is not the...

Re: New Apple machine with 8th Gen i7 (Mac mini) running badly
I also have this problem. Mac mini 2018 i5 (6 core 3GHz). I loaded a project which I created on my previous computer (iMac 27" i7, late 2012). I was very surprised that the new Mac mini is performing very very bad with Ableton Live. My old computer was able to handle the project. But on the Mac...

Yeah, that did the trick. Thanks!Otamono wrote: In ableton in Options tab (not the preferences) disable "Reduce Latency When Monitoring"

Re: Discrepancies between Ableton CPU meter and the system CPU
On my system it's quite opposite: Live's CPU meter is way lower than the OSX meter. I have a C2D 2,4 GHz . I think Live measures only its own audio processing stuff but doesn't take care of 3rd party plugin CPU utilization (VSTs/AUs). For my experience the audio starts dropping when the OSX meter go...

Re: MIDI issue with my Virus T1
I would try this: Save the Virus sound patches (if changed) and drop/re-create the plugin instance.

Re: How do you make and program the ubiquitous techno blip/bleep
Yupp, sounds like some pitched percussions with synced delays. I would try FabFilter Timless for the delays. They have some nice presets which also uses filters and stuff.m.o wrote:Toms/Congas with short decay and some LPF?

Re: Howto : Make Ableton use Less CPU in OSX
Some times ago I used CoolBook (http://coolbook.se/). Obviously it fixed some SpeedStep issues on OSX. I had a lot better CPU performance in Live and NI Traktor. Later I removed CoolBook because I suspected issues with early NI Maschine drivers. Meanwhile I think the SpeedStep issues in OSX are fixe...

Re: "Make me sound like old transistor radio" how to ideas plz
I'd try a bandpass filter. AM radios have audio bandwith cutoff at ca. 4.5 Khz.
Maybe a speaker simulation can help too.

All you need to get excited is some uncommented GUI mockups? Not even complete mockups, just tiles? Oh wow.

Re: Maschine users - tell me about your workflow?
I always use Maschine as a VST. I usually start with Maschine as the first instrument in my projects. At a certain point in the work I begin to route some of Maschine's instruments to different tracks into Live. So I have different tracks for Kick, Snare, HHs and so on. This makes it easier to apply...

Re: Newb Question: Korg Electribes - Why would you want one?
I own the EMX. Bought it before I used Live. Now I use it only in some rare situations. The hardware step sequencer is nice to use. I trigger soft synth sounds with it. Sometimes I also like the trashy oldschool synth sounds of the EMX.

+1 ...and NI is savvy enough to understand that. I feel a Komplete sale comin' on. :D NI's "Komplete Sales" are always a sure indicator for: We have a new version of Komplete soon, but we don't tell you yet The new version will drop some of the products you already own. Not supported anym...
