but easiest way would probably using nondestructive editing.

tweak, chop, modify clips in the arrangement while recording it in the session.

go back and get the bits that worked.

first of all it is layering drums sure you layer the drums individualy and not the kit.


i create my kickd rum i'm going to use by layering but other drums but the single most important part is using eq'ing, compression, and filtering to mix those layers into my kick so they are filling those open ...

i only use the arrangement view for nondestructive editing. I guess I should get more into it.

it just feels more soulful to me that arrangement. Yea strange i know.

I use this keyppad by xkeys. it comes with a basic application you use to set the keys individually as any letters, numbers, or symbols.

layout how many tracks and clips you want.

then all i do is use key select function on ableton to set each tracks play ...
