If you scroll down to 9.6.1, it does appear that the audio engine was tweaked a bit between 9.6 and 9.6.1 .... maybe it’s time to revisit that tweaking?

Re: Relocating specific VST patch that's become unreferenced
depends... an ableton project is just a gzipped xml file (iirc). So you can probably gunzip it, look at the xml, and figure out where kontakt was. But... usually, the vst has its own internal format for its data, so it just gives it to Ableton as a binary blob. This is just uuencoded (or base64 enco...

Re: Am I The Only One Not Impressed?
Can you give examples of 64bit being an "upgrade". Maybe I'm wrong. I've only ever used 32 bit. And isn't there a compatibility problem with Ableton 10? We won't be able to open old projects that have 32 bit plugins? I opened a set a couple days ago with Live 10 in OSX, that I originally created in...

Re: 10 is announced!
Yes, most of the early testers have been using it as their sole daw for weeks or months now. I’ve been using it for client work for about two months now without a single issue. Really? Maybe I should try help out with the demo.. Feel like I ove them after all these years of non stop flowing music m...

Re: 10 is announced!
i was looking at automation delay compensation - it isn't fixed for live 10, apparently, or the visual indicators (not too surprising, but sad). It's baffling that they wouldn't have fixed this very fundamental problem with the program's architecture. I agree... but there's also a way to get around...

Re: 10 is announced!
M4Live is now integrated in the Suite, so less problems... but not in Live Standard. That means, if I upgrade from Live9 standard to Live10 standard, my M4live, which I purchased years ago separately, makes the same problems as always. In other words: Live Suite Users have no problems for the futur...

Re: When Ableton Live 9 is open, kills all other computer sound
IIRC there is a setting in the audio panel for sample rate. obviously this needs to match what you are using in Ableton if you want them both to be able to use the soundcard at the same time - the soundcard can only send out one stream of audio after all. keep in mind the intention of ASIO is to get...

Re: Live 10 Screenshot?
that's true, but they shouldn't completely get rid of folders. i may not be representative of true musicians :) but tagging, while really powerful, has a startup cost - you have to remember to tag things, or put the right thing in the name. probably already done in the factory content (hopefully!) b...

Re: Valhalla Room vs Vintage
both are good.
use VVV if you want to hear the verb, use room if you don't.
plate is pretty good if you want to hear the verb too - i prefer it to VVV even when it's tuned right, it's my favorite of the valhallas.

Re: Project crashes on teachers computer, but works on mine
It could be that... i've seen that on windows before, where a set that had a plugin I no longer had installed wouldn't load; it would crash on startup instead. I would think freezing would avoid this, but maybe not. btw, if that's true, you can just bounce those tracks, delete the plugins, and use a...

Re: Does anybody actually understand wavetables?
it goes back to the observation Wendy Carlos made 40 (?) years ago regarding modulars... 'anything you CAN control, you MUST control'... people love filter sweeps because they are easy - one knob! - and they have a huge affect on the sound. looked at on a spectrogram, that single knob is affecting m...

Re: Ableton reverb is not that bad!?
i recommend reading this article: https://valhalladsp.com/2011/01/21/reverbs-diffusion-allpass-delays-and-metallic-artifacts/ the older reverbs had limitations that you may or may not be hitting. the key to a reverb is getting enough echo density quickly, while avoid ringing artifacts. the older alg...

Re: Signal Flow in the Effect Rack
i think he was asking if there is a shortcut for it. there's not AFAIK, but it's pretty easy to drag things around where you want them to be. occasionally i'd like a shortcut where i can select a few effects, right-click on them and have live create an audio effects rack with the chain duplicated ac...
