Taking the Christmas tree for a bike ride

Hey all, This was my winter break project: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bqvaAxdRdyc There's not really anything very "Ableton" about the piece. It was my first attempt to import video into Ableton, and then the "soundtrack" was scored in Ableton. And yeah, that's my tree, that'...

Re: Ableton Max for Live production guidelines

Howdy:

Could someone recommend some good patches that incorporate the guidelines?

I'm sure there are many of us who are crappy programmers and we could learn alot from looking into actual examples of solid code, rather than just blindly reading the guidelines. :)

Thanks for any suggestions!

Re: The iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch Resource Thread

Hi: I recently was gifted an iPad and I'm trying to figure out if I should keep it. All this Touch OSC, TouchAble, etc. stuff seems like it has a lot of potential, so I wanted to pose a few questions before I either opened the box or returned it. I'm using Live for live looping and my sound card it ...

Midi Map versus Rack Macro Map - EQ Eight / Auto Filter bug?

Hi: 1) midi map a controller (0-127) to frequency of Auto Filter or EQ Eight 2) change minimum mapping value to something other than 30Hz (like maybe 2k). Ok everything works fine. 1) Now put a Auto Filter or EQ Eight in a rack 2) Map a macro knob to frequency 3) change minimum mapping value to some...

Re: Any luck with ring_keyPress to emulate Ableton keypresses?

Hi: I have successfully used ring_keyPress with Ableton. My first suggestion would be to make sure that the Ableton application has 'focus', otherwise the keystrokes could be going to some other application. And also some of the codes are not quite intuitive to me. For example: ! = 16 49 @ = 16 50 M...

MSP compression tutorials - examples not all working?

Hey:

Could someone verify that the examples in the MSP Compression tutorials are working? A few of the examples work for me, but many do not. Any ideas? I can't seem to find many hits for "compression" in the forum here.

Thanks,

Re: Ableton Looper creates pops and clicks

For what it's worth, I seem to be noticing more pops and clicks in 8.1.1 also. Even when sending the Looper output to another track, rather than 'dragging' out of Looper.

Re: Map live.remote~ to effect rack knob?

I sorta figured out how to control a marco in a rack looking at: http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=123697&p=977762&hilit=macro+knobs#p977762 and http://www.maxforlive.com/library/device.php?id=66 However I'm still wondering if it possible to more directly control a rack param...

Re: Map live.remote~ to effect rack knob?

Thanks for the reply hyaahyaa. That is a good trick to keep in mind for live devices.

I would actually like to control one of the 8 macro knobs in a rack with live.remote~ , but I can't even figure that out. For example the first knob of the first device in a given track.

Any more ideas? Thanks,

Map live.remote~ to effect rack knob?

Ugh, Can someone direct me to an example of mapping live.remote~ to a knob on a rack (effects, instrument, etc)? And maybe a good way to consistently figure out parameter numbers? I'm missing something here: Thanks, <pre><code> ----------begin_max5_patcher---------- 478.3ocuTssaiBCD8YpT+Gr7yrQ1PJE5a...

metro quantize?

Ugh, noob question... Why doesn't this work the way I think it should? (metro 2n quantize 1n) I would like to trigger the metro at some random point, like 1.2.3, then have it wait until 2.1.1, and then have it bang at every half note: 2.1.1 2.3.1 3.1.1 3.3.1 etc, (metro 2n quantize 1n) only bangs at...

ring, this is Awesome! Thanks! For those of you (like me) who don't know anything about javascript, don't forget to paste the ring_keyPress.class file to: C:\Program Files\Cycling '74\Max 5.0\Cycling '74\java\classes And for whatever it's worth, this slight modification of ring's genius patch works ...

Jump transport to next bar (while transport stopped)

I am trying to figure out a way to jump to the beginning of the next bar when the transport is stopped. set_current_song_time only seems to work when the transport is playing, otherwise it just moves the marker in arranger, but does not change the play position when hitting shift-space to continue. ...

Long Click and Double-Click from note (for FCB1010 etc)

Hey: Just thought I'd share this code. Maybe someone else will find it useful. I use the code to allow one pedal on the FCB1010 to perform multiple actions depending on how the pedal is clicked. Pitch and velocity are sent to the input to the patch bangs to an outlet if a double-click or a long clic...
