Re: Chain Selector Midpoint +3db boost in Live 9.7.3?

have you asked the Abe's about this? maybe the change wasn't intentional? yes I sent them a request, and i have a ticket open. not holding my breath for a reply though. the hard part is I'm not sure what version this change came in. I updated a machine that was running Ableton 8.x.x to Ableton 9.7....

Re: Chain Selector Midpoint +3db boost in Live 9.7.3?

But did you mean the crossfader? No, he didn't. He's talking about 18.5.4 Chain Select Zones in (e.g. effect-)racks, scroll down to the last image in that section, where they're describing "Crossfading Preset Banks Using Fade Ranges". When I created my set in Live 8 years ago, the midpoint of the c...

Re: Chain Selector Midpoint +3db boost in Live 9.7.3?

np. unfortunately it doesn't seem to give you curve options. I'm on PC by the way.

What's perplexing is, why would they make this change in the first place? Why would anyone prefer their volume being boosted when crossfading in general?

Chain Selector Midpoint +3db boost in Live 9.7.3?

I recently updated my DJ laptop it looks like Live 9.7.3 changed the Chain Selector curve? Not sure when this was implemented, but is there a way to revert back to the old curve? When I created my set in Live 8 years ago, the midpoint of the chain selector crossfading between two chains kept the vol...

Re: LIVE 9 : PDC IMPROVED OR NOT ?

thanks for responding guys. is the delay static? so like say you have +25ms of delay caused by PDC. if I were to bounce then manually adjust with Lives channel delay -25ms, is that the idea for a fix? I can deal with delay, timing adjustments are part of the mixing process. what I can't deal with is...

Re: 6 Foot 7 Foot Kick Drum Sample Request

instead of picking a stock 808 kick... 1) insert two tracks 2) on track A pick a kick drum you like 3) on track B pick a sub bass 4) put a gate on the sub track 5) have the gate on track B side-chained to the kick on track A and adjust the gate settings to taste. once this is set up, the sub sound w...

Re: Opinions of 64 Bit Live

ive been out of the loop lately too and don't want to take the plunge if its not stable.

do you still need to use a bridge for your 32-bit vsts?

is the 'out of memory' bug fixed in the 64-bit beta? i have 16gigs of RAM it would be nice to actually USE THEM.

Re: STRATEGIES TO GET THE BEST OUT LIVE : DELAY COMPENSATION

So..... er ask for a free bag. LOL EPIC! 8) It's one thing to know the latency of a plug. it's another thing to know WHAT Plugin Delay Comp is actually doing behind the scenes. The way i understand it, it's flexible, pushing and pulling the timing, not static. In the vain of making a list of latenc...

Re: STRATEGIES TO GET THE BEST OUT LIVE : DELAY COMPENSATION

3dot, check the edit i just made. From what i understood StrictDelayCompensation added latency at the cost of it being static, so checking off Reduced Latency When Monitoring would be the opposite of that... I think? :| not sure about you but that does make a difference if you're in the business of ...

Re: STRATEGIES TO GET THE BEST OUT LIVE : DELAY COMPENSATION

@RD444 but goddamnit don't you know we need to stack 50 plugs per track to create that perfect dubstep growl!! LOL  i don't think there is a definitive answer, and that's why we haven't gotten one. per plugin delay compensation is what we want and i don't think we're gonna get it. begs the ques...

Re: STRATEGIES TO GET THE BEST OUT LIVE : DELAY COMPENSATION

so it sounds like you've been chasing this for sometime ze2be. hurts to know it's still not 100% resolved. :? i like the idea of turning off delay comp all together and manually adjusting, pre-render, with some sort of 3rd party delay device. the thing is, if you go that route, you are only able to ...

Re: STRATEGIES TO GET THE BEST OUT LIVE : DELAY COMPENSATION

@Tone Deft: not sure if I follow your testing scheme still, my bad  . I tried my "concept" last night, and just by way of tweaking the track delay (which i've never used until last night), things tightened up a bit, but not that magical "tightness" i was trying to achieve. for the 2 tracks gro...

Re: STRATEGIES TO GET THE BEST OUT LIVE : DELAY COMPENSATION

not sure if I follow you regarding using phase inversion to verify this particular example? what did you have in mind as a test? from what i understand about this issue (and god knows i might be wrong), Ableton's delay comp creates a moving target scenario, with a random, push/pull for 3rd party plu...
